Meh. Too blurry or hard to see. Not really artistic if all it is is thowing a few filters on a screenshot with no regard for quality. If you are going to mess around with filters like that, do it a bit more subtly.

But anyway, time to go back on topic.

More than just a simple black and white filter.

That's the art of it...how can something be "Not really artistic"?:hehe:

Hmm...i would consider applegathc's first and last pic in the opening post to be "artsy", the "watercolor" effect is kinda neat.

Here's a stab at "Sepia" , color was taken away and replaced with brown tones, and added grain effect.

That would be like calling Twilight a piece of literature.

HAHA LOL ok well that was funny I have to admit....but whatever. I'll leave you to your opinion. Sorry my pics didn't please you but whatever, it's the internet so it's all good. Me not-subtly applying the filters is the point of the picture. It's to show that anything can look good no matter what you do it...It's to make you think, that was my intention.

Nice effort guys. Actually, many contributors use filters and other effects when posting screenshots. If you have an hour or more to spare, take a wander through the Screenshots section of the Trainz Resources Directory. Don't get me wrong, not all the pics are filtered, but many are in some way or another. In my opinion, the gallery contains the best screenshots posted this year, however several categories are incomplete. I can only look at the screenshots on these forums when I have surplus bandwidth and that's not often.

At least one screenshot in this thread has made it to my collection. I'll let you look to find out which one it is.

I look for several things when selecting a screenshot for the gallery:
  • Composition
  • Realism
  • Depth of field
  • Lack of parallax distortion
  • Use of filters if any
Complexity and model detail are not real issues.

Enjoy

Where did those curvy women come from? Are they 3D or just cheap 2D people?

Those curvy women came attached to the "CNW Racine Station" , i just spent over two hours checking TWICE to see if they were seperate so you could put them anywhere, sadly it seems thats not the case:'( , i couldnt find them except for being attached to the station.

I have TS2009, and have downloaded a few routes, so not sure where the CNW Racine station came from:confused: . If ANYONE knows where they can be downloaded separately, PLEASE let me know:wave: .

EDIT: upon further investigation i found the same women attached to the "Cutbank Station" too, much less then are attached to the CNW Racine station, but still, its another source.

Applegathc, I am sorry and dont want to hijack this neat thread, just was trying to answer a question.

NOW BACK TO THE REGULAR SCHEDULED PROGRAM...

What about 3D Stereo pictures?

How many of you have read this tutorial about converting your screenshots in to genuine 3D stereo pictures? It would be great to see a thread in the Screenshots section for these stereos. Better still, I could make a special section in the Trainz Resources Directory where the best ones could be displayed. All the software you need is free. You just have to locate some red blue and/or green celluloid to make the glasses.

I haven't made any stereos myself, but I did make the glasses. I used the celluloid that goes over theatre lighting. You can purchase small squares from theatre lighting hire shops, but hobby or art shops will probably be cheaper.

There are thousands of stereos on the Internet so when you get tired of looking at Trainz pics, you can go surfing.
