So, what's popular where you are?

I live in Del Mar, California, along the Surfliner route, so I see alot of F59-PHI's and F40's, as well as some BNSF ES44-DC's.

Hi everybody.
Living in North Somerset, UK I am within 2 miles of the great Western main line (GWML) which I use extensively for my own travel. We have consists travelling through or calling at my local station approximately every 5 minutes or so throughout the day in both directions which are made up of HST’s and various classes of DMU’s.

There is also now a growing amount of freight movement especially late at night as a large number of retail organisations and parcel carriers are using high-speed freight consists to move their goods between central warehousing and regional distribution centres.

The above is causing huge capacity problems on the GWML which is similarly reciprocated throughout the British rail network. Passenger numbers have been increasing by over 10% per year since 2000 and are now exceeding figures produced for the railways in their heyday in the early part of the last century.

The above said, it is good to see growing passenger and freight movements despite the capacity problems rather than the decline we witnessed throughout the seventies and early eighties. I often think that Doctor Beeching in making the cuts that he did in the 1960s saved the rail network and therefore gave it the foothold to rebuild to what we see today. There are plans to reopen the least to old branch lines in the area of North Somerset/Bristol, we wait to see when that will come about.

well, my internet is down so i'm posting from my tablet, but I live about maybe not even a mile from Steamtown USA in Scranton, PA. I see regular freight trains coming at least 4-6 times a week. they're not long, but most use four old ALCos and what I believe to be a GP40-2W. once in a while a see an old Nickel Plate Road GP9 No. 514 heading an excursion passenger to and from Steamtown Station.

I live not to far from the UP Nampa Subdivision. And of course, my favorite railroad in the whole wide world runs their armour yellow locomotives endlessly (Pshh... I wish I was in Nebraska on the transcon, 100 trains a day, Only a couple times I've struck gold and got 4 trains in one day here in Idaho) As you know, I live UP. I'm probably their biggest fan, and its pretty much all I see except for the BVRR/WAMX that runs the big blue and orange beasts. I occasionally see a CSX visitor from MPI or just being tugged along as a DPU. Other kool stuff comes from Motive Power Industries here in Boise. However, I have seen the occasional CP visitor from Canada come down and let me see the incredbile bright red paint! What a treat it was earlier this summer about a week before my birthday to get to see one leading the way.....

That's pretty much it, but just know,
I am probably the biggest UP fan that ever walked the face of the earth. I have several friends that can attest to that.

Here in Central Texas, we have an endless array of rock train with UPRR C44-9Ws, BNSF Dash-9s, and UP AC4400CWs. We also have lots of Coal runs with AC4400s, ES44ACs, and (recently) SD70ACes. We also have lots of intermodel with SD70ACes, SD70Ms, and ES44s. Lots of KCS power too. There also are lots of manifests, with various UPRR, KCS, and NS power. And sometimes SD40-2s, and SD60Ms. There ya go!

Found this while digging through my forums, thought I'd bring it back from the dead.
Been at college a while now, I have found the occasional time for Trainz.(At home of course, I normally catch up at college if need be anyway)

But to get to the point, the college I'm at is next to a railway, funnily enough, the exact same line I said I was close to at the start of this thread.
I looked into it and I think I've seen every possible company that operates on that line.
Virgin(Voyager), London Midland, Arriva, freight being a rarity, though I have seen it.
I think once I saw a test train fly by..

I should mention, I have reasonable breaks, with no work needed to be done, so I get the occasional chance to view the line, while in a room browsing the internet.. :p

College has been going well these years. :D
