Sluggish performance of sw1500 loco

I have tried 2 different sw1500 with similar results. First I find acceleration is very slow at power level 1 and if the loco stops on a curve (not a sharp one), I cannot get the loco to move again as I increase the power level the wheels are slipping and the loco is not moving. N.B. loco is by itself. Now if I use a sw1200 loco I find the performance much better. Is this something normal for the sw1500 or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated

Change the engine specs in the config file to match the other loco.

Just like in real life, any engine on a curve will lose pulling power and quite a bit of it. Try using sand and start up in notch 2 and slowly notch up after you begin to gain some speed.

In the config file I changed the engine type from sw1500 to sw7 and that did it. Thanks for your help
