Help please: I have a new PC and have Trainz 2019 and 22 but unlike on my old pc this is so slow I am getting a frame rate of 2fps yes 2 not 20 and everything is so slow I want to throw the game away the PC works fine with other games. I have an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core 5.2GHz CPU and an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16Gb GPU and 32 gigs of memory.

You don't say what graphics adapter you have. Is this a laptop or a desktop?

Try lowering your graphics settings. Try the very lowest settings in the performance panel located under Trainz Settings off of the Launcher first then work up from there.

The settings I use for my RTX 3080 are as follows:

Shadow-quality: High
Shader quality: Basic
Texture detail: Normal
Post processing: High
Water quality: Ultra
Detail scenery: Clutter + TurfFX
Antialiasing: 4x

PhysX unchecked. **** When checked, this can really hurt performance.

In game, set the tree detail to normal
Draw distance will vary.
Texture detail and Post processing should be the same as the performance settings.

What kind of storage drive is this running on? How much free space does it have? Are your RAM timing settings correct?

Can you state the Trainz build number? Cant help wondering if it is SP6 with no hot fix.

Sorry for long delay in replying it affects both 19 and 22 so ill give you both build numbers Trainz 2019 is 117009 and trainz 2022 is 132284 Hope this helps

Use the same settings in TRS19 as you do in TRS22. In TRS22, Standard is now Basic, but all other settings are the same.

Be sure to uncheck PhysX. This can cause really bad performance issues. If you have a G-Sync, or the similar AMD equivalent, disable that. Trainz runs better with fixed frequency display settings.

To save you from scrolling back, here are the settings I use in both versions, updated for TRS22/PE/PLUS.

II thought I would post the stats when running Trainz 2022 and also Trainz 2019 Trainz 2022 first
FPS 11.79 in game
in profiler fps 2.0
AppIdle 0.1% All looks fine until i get to E2 swap stage which is in red 68.9
the wait for frame in red 81.3%
Frame Latency 65.9%
Swap thread 66.6%
i just dont understand it. I am no whiz kid in computers, nor in typing, and am totally lost

Go mad and try Middleton for laptops on it. If that runs badly that's one problem but if it's fine that points in other directions such as content.

Thanks John

I have a very red face. All the time i have been trying to run my Trainz and cursing and guess what? It was my own stupidity, being told that I needed a keyboard that was not wireless to allow me to get to the bios and looking online various bits and pieces, I suddenly realised that i had my HDMI cable plugged into the motherboard instead of the Graphics card a simple move of the cable and all is well. Perhaps it is a lesson for others too as my particular motherboards HDMI slot is more visible that my graphics card HDMI.
