Skylake

Yup. I was looking at them as a replacement for my ailing machine, but you can't get them. They are completely out of stock and the word on the street is won't be available until November or later. The ones that are available are being scalped like footie tickets! The list price across the pond here is $349 US. New Egg has them listed at that and so do a few more reputable dealers, however, they are out of stock with no ETA. I checked Amazon and there are a few companies selling the same chip, yes, the same one at more than twice that price! No way!

Got plenty in stock at my local supplier, the 6700k is RRP $885.00. The 6600k is $589.00. Some interesting bench marks are starting to come out also, looks like they are close to 10% faster overall than the previous models.

They are great processors, but as I said impossible to be had across the Pacific. According to various articles, Intel is producing the chips in Taiwan and then they are shipped over here via cargo ship. Even if the chips are being produced now, they will take 40-plus days to arrive in Los Angeles and then they are sent out to the distribution channels. By the time this all takes place, it could be early December or probably next year.

With this in mind, this may explain why you have the supply. Intel chose to distribute in the Asia-Pacific region first, probably, to supply system manufacturers first, then supply the enthusiast market later. This would put a large number of chips in your market, but cause a shortage over here.
