Single Double Tracks

hold SHIFT key

"Hold SHIFT Key" when laying track is an invaluable tool (keeps tracks from joining). I use a US style "MB Quad" as a tracklaying guide. I use it on the straight sections (it won't bend or straighten when hitting the straighten tool button).

Then I join the two MB Quad straight segments, with the track of my choice for making curves.

I later on delete the MB Quad and replace it with the track of my choice, and straighten it.

Prototypical track spacing, splines shoud overlap each other, and form a figure "8", and paralell roadbeds should touch each other.

All "S" curves (opposing curves) need a straight segment between them.

All switches need a straight segment right before them, straighten the turnouts to get rid of the sharp "Y" effect.

The hold SHIFT and CTRL key does many things like fine adjust, when adjusting building and track heights. Some items are rollable using these keys.

Get in close

If you get in close when laying one track close to another, as close as you can go, they generally do not merge.
