I have 2 tracks that connect as seen in the picture below but how can I connect a signal to the switch so if one train has gone through the other train will stop then once the one train has gone back the other direction the next train can go trains turn around and go in reverse after station ahead if you can help me out I would be greatly appreciated.

The way you have set it up in the screen shot is correct. Don't place any other signals on the track to the station, you can use one to leave the station. Any problems you might get will be from what happens on the two tracks before it reaches this junction.
Signals look in the next block and if it sees a train it will show red, so your train in the station will cause both the signals to be red. Once the train leaves the signals will reset to auto. The only other thing that might happen is the two trains fighting for control of the junction lever.

When I do the above the light just stays red I am not sure why

You need a signal at the end of the track, like a buffer which acts as a signal or an invisible signal.

The signal only goes green when a train is in front of the signal or else they will show red all the time. In survey just place an engine on the track in front of the signals to test them.

well what kind of signal/buffer would work best? I have a buffer but still shows red

Some are dummy buffers and are for show only. Go into mini map and you should see the two signals you have placed and the red light where the buffer is placed. You could also just check that the lever is placed correct side of the spline point because if it was slightly on the wrong side it would cause the signal problem.

I have fixed it but now only the signal on the right works I am so confused

Hover over the signal and a text will appear. You might get something like line terminates or block is in use. Also did you switch the lever to the other track?

thanks for the help I have fixed it now it was the lever not being in the right spot

now my map is telling me junction lever missing and I have checked all my track switches

If you ever get 'junction lever missing' I've found the best solution is to delete and replace your junction again. Try 'lever auto' which will always work. Sometimes 'junction lever missing' can indicate that there is a break in one of your track splines, not properly connected. Try re-laying that section of track again and make sure you have a buffer placed at the end of all your tracks and sidings. I sometimes use a dwarf signal behind the buffer to ensure all other signals along the line function correctly. Cheers, Merry Christmas!

Levers sometimes do move when placed, so need to check them out when you place them. I always make sure the lever is just inside the spline circle on the single track side of the split. This will solve any issue of the lever moving slightly later.
