im new and just got the game only a month or 2.. i really like the game. but there needs to be a tutorial for the surveyor haha.. i have posted signals where they would need to be but i don't think im doing it right.. i don't know how to trigger or sensors for each signal on each track they are all always red..? makeing haveing any AI trains running almost imposable because they stop at the first red light.

i like trains but have almost nothing to do with them in real life.. so i dont know if i understand the names of what i need or something. can anyone help.. or if this has been talked about tell me where to find it?

thank you..

Are the signals only red in surveyor? If so, this is always the case unless you put a loco on the tracks, which will then activate the signalling.

Hello Josh25b, you may get more help after you register your version of Trainz with Auran.

I have noticed this in Trainz 2010, but not with previous versions of Trainz,

Some UK semiphore signals do not change to green even when the line is signalled correctly and an engine is waiting to enter the clear block, but the light aspect signals seem to show a line of greens on the same stretch of line.

Maybe this is what you have encountered, I replaced all semiphore signalling with 4 light aspect signalling, trains now run along the same stretch of line, all the time without problems.

Thankfully I have Trainz Classics UK, so if I want steam trains with semiphore signalling, then I can have them.

Hope this helps

im doing better.. but still! every signal just before a junction even if there is signals down the line says the track is not signaled ahead. i have tried to placing the signals all over.. i have ready all of the info i could find.. but still am having trouble with signals at junctions... i dont know what im doin wrong... and im running out of things i know to try..

Josh25B: There are two basic signals, one is permissive and the other is absolute..Permissive means slow to half speed but proceed with caution..The other absolute means what it says..Now if you have not noticed, one has a flag on it(permissive), the other one has none(absolute)..In theory, these two types can run your railroad..

i am using the USA signals.. i do not see the flags your talking about? but my problem still remains whatever signal i use that is near a track junction shows red and when you hover over it always says "the track is unsignaled ahead"..

i have a realy well map i build to match the railwords in a few of the towns here in the midwest of the usa where im from.. but several areas the sideing are not connected where i have deleted the last bit of track makeing the juntion to the mail line because the signal no matter what i do says the track is unsignaled ahead.. i would like to finish it... and be able to use the sidings and the sheds at the end of the run and not just have them for looks

josh25b: The following Picture should help you..The first signal you see(front) is the flagged one or permissive..The other two you see in the background(rear) are the absolute ones..If a train is on the siding it will stop at the absolute, until the points of the switch change it will say "Track not signaled ahead"..Because the computer will always pick the shortest path..The switch points will open the siding for clear or green..Now if there is a opposing train, it will stop(siding)..

ok i still do not understand the permissive and absolute signals.. useing the usa signals.. is there a different in the names or numbers to tell what ones are permissive and what ones are absolute

if it help i have taken a few screens shots of the area where i am haveing trouble placing the signals the main line splits off where i have an engine shed.. i have the 2 main lines that go both ways. and then it breaks off several times so i have 4 lines leading into the shed. i can not get it signaled for the life of me.. does this make sense??

i really do injoy this game and would love to learn more so i understand trains more in real life even.. i am excited to learn what i am doing wrong and finish this map. i think it will be a real joy to drive once it in complete! ;)

josh25b: Is it just the four orange areas??If it is, it looks like to me you never get those signals to say different, because you have 4 dead end tracks..The only thing you can do is put 4 permissive signals or you can go into surveyor click on the track, when it opens up click on top second button..When it opens high lite the search area and type CN..you then should have a choice switch stands with Lights on top..choose yard 4 switch stands..Go back and delete the other switch stands you have and click the other ones in its place..The signal that has the green turf by it is the permissive(the little cross bar is the flag)

The "flag" or "cross bar" is actually also a sign that diaplays the signal's name: you can type in a name for these signals, just like with regular scenery objects, and it will display on the sign. ;)

Regards.

it is 8 junctions that are shown in the picture... i honestly think i am placeing them in the wrong places because of the lay out of the tracks.. i do not know if i should be placeing the signals in a diffrent place around the lines.. or move the tracks around and where the junctions are.. i can not even get signals so the AI trains go right past on the main lines..

i might also mention i am 14 so im sure i am one of the younger members here so i may not be understanding something important im missing.. my father has been helping me as well and we have been working on this togeather.. however he knows less about trains then me so we could very well be missing something..

my father is even on the other laptop as i speak trying to look online at some of the other links that have been posted.. weather it is the placement of the signals or the layout of the track itself, we dont know...

and bobcass i was hopeing to mirror the track on the other side of the shed sence it is open on both ends and have the 4 side tracks merge back with the two main lines

josh25b: PM to me your E-Mail address and I will send you a Manuel for signaling, it is called Trouble shooting..There are Different sections in the Manuel so you want to read sections 4 and 5..
