Signals meaning

I don't know if any one has an answer to this but it has me stumped about signals. I saw this while watching some videos about railroads. The colors were flashing yellow over green over red. Any idea as to what it means?

That one I'm not too familiar with. I believe it's an advanced medium to clear. I'm not sure Distant will have an explanation on that particular one. The top head flashing yellow seems to be something to do with advanced. Here in Canada (not sure where the video came from as that makes a big difference) they added a bunch of new aspects for higher speed trains on what was once slower sections (upgraded) near Toronto.

Thanks

Sean

The Canadian system is a bit different than the NORAC or other systems used in the US so that would make sense. Drew Harmon comes from Florida and is familiar with CSX's former Seaboard System (Seaboard Coastline/Atlantic Coastline) signaling so will definitely be different than you are used to.

No I'm familiar with NORAC as well. Not too much of a difference between the two except some of the rules. Worth a shot but I'm not familiar with that particular signal off my memory.

Thanks

Sean

OK I did some digging. If this was on CN or in Canada this is the signal. I can't confirm this on NORAC.

https://www.tc.gc.ca/media/documents/railsafety/CROR_English_May_18_2018_Web_Services.pdf

Advanced Clear To Medium

Rule 413

413.Advance Clear to Medium - Proceed, approaching second signal at MEDIUM speed.

I don't think NORAC has a similar signal but what it means is the equivalent of Advanced Approach Medium. So 2 signals away you must be ad medium speed. In both NORAC & CROR that is 30 MPH.

Hope we found that one for you.

Yes I'm a signal junkie. Now I got to get back to my real job :)

Thanks

Sean
