Signals Controlling Speed?

Is there a way to overcome a signal controlling speed miles away from the signal? I found that that a red signal several miles distant must me causing my 50mph speed limit to be cut-in half. I do not want that degree of signal control

How do I prevent signals from controlling speeds in a fashion that does not make sense?

use the Set Selected Signal State rule to make the signal green, yellow signals will always force an AI train to half-speed and there's no practical way to stop that afaik

Alternatively, place an invisible signal a few hundred metres in front of the signal causing the problem. The distance should roughly equal the normal driver visibility distance from the main (visible) signal. When the main signal is at caution, the invisible signal will be at proceed.

The problem is with the distance between signals and the type of signals used. I use a one- & two-mile distance with no problems. The other problem is the type of signal used. I see many routes with 06 or 08 signals placed on track at that that type is not approximate for that location. Those, 06 and 08, are used to control speed thru interlocking territory and controlling speed thru turnouts.

N3V does not seem to offer any comprehensive guidelines in the Wiki. There is a reference to a "book" from Auran but is there really a "book" somewhere?

Unfortunately, a lone engine gets the same speed management as a large train. But I assume that is how it is in the real world. In that case is the engineer/driver allowed to ignore the "signaled speed" and proceed at a higher speed based upon the train makeup?
