signalling a branch with passing loops to run under AutoPilot, and other issues ?

Hi

I have been working on a design for a roughly 20 x 20 feet "N" gauge layout design that has a looped double track main line that works just fine with autopilot and the signalling I am using, allowingme to run about 4-5 trains on the same double track in each direction.

However my recently added branch line is a different story.

I have tried every combination of signalling and markers to make the trains behave themselves and wait until the next passing loop is available to them and no other consist is in that block. It seemed to me after endless attempts that I need to somehow use distant signals only, so that the trains need to have TWO blocks free before they move ? This would allow them to share the loops pretty well.

Sadly, when I put some simple LMS semaphore signals in place to check operations, they complain that the line ahead is unsignalled?

Can anyone suggest a mechanism that would let this work. ?

ALSO I notice that the autopilot system does NOT seem to honor track direction markers, or even priority markers, and the consists will happily take a lop that is marked again them ?

While on the forum, I also use the OPTIONS menu that allows me to set up ALL the driver commands that I want to have available and checked in my driver sessions, but as soon as I start a new driver session, none of them are checked. How do I make them stay there ?

Lots of questions, but I hope an expert might be able to help me out here. :-)

Best regards to everyone
Ian

Perhaps take a look at my "Krashnburne" route and sessions.

In essence the route is a single track with passing loops. Most of the sessions are set up so that AI trainz run in both directions. With the set up I've used it all runs extremely well.

You will find that some of the latter sessions use Signal Link. I found that this is not necessary if only AI is running. It's there to help when a player as well as the AI is operating.
