Signal operation

Hi;
I am placing signals along my large route, and seeing some strange effects.
Using the Safetran signals, and some of the built-in searchlight signals (for non-ctc "automatic" signals).

When I place a signal named "Safetran CLight Signal 08 Gantry Interlocking" at an interlocking which consists of two tracks with a universal crossover, and another crossover to another (unsignaled) line, the signal will never indicate whether the switches are lined through or in the cross-over position.
They do indicate whether or not another train is ahead, or if a switch is set against the approaching train.

This said, if I use another signal, labeled "Safetran CLight Signal 06 RD", which is intended for a right-diverging junction, the signal will properly change indication when the switches are lined to the crossover position.

I am curious as to why the "interlocking" signal does not function as I would expect it to when placed at an interlocking.

I am considering scripting my own signals, but have not yet gained enough programming/scripting experience to do so.

I would appreciate any help on this.

Signal scripting and Trainz are an ongoing frustration. Even in what one would see as a simple crossover to the right in some instances a 'LD' signal will work better than a 'RD'. It all has to do with the way Trainz sees the track layout, which often has little to do with the actual layout.

I am not sure I fully understand the track layout you are describing, but try an invisible signal between the 'universal crossover' and the 'other crossover', that often fixes an incorrect 'diverge' aspect. The risk of course is that the AI props a train at a red on the invisible thereby fouling the entire interlocking for all traffic.

Trainz assumes every junction is signalled and a run of junctions often gives strange results...

Well, if I understand you correctly, I won't be doing any scripting in TS<g>.
I've got enough frustration with trying to get old assets that were designed for TS2004 to work in 09.

I guess I'll have to do a lot of experimenting with various signal types, invisible signals, and maybe eventually someone will come up with a signal controller that works like the Junction Controller I love so much.

because you are expecting a routing signal where none exists. these signals are for speed aspects, as most signals in the US are, not for routing. this signal also expects to be guarding more than one turnout.
