Signal decommission cover

I haven't seen one on the DLS but I was wondering is it possible for someone to do signals with the decommission cover?

This is for colourlight signals in particular of 2,3 and 4 aspects with theatre and feather route indicators on the signals.

Thanks, PFX.

The answer for the OP is nope, I haven't seen anything like that.

It's the same thing we have over here as well. Sometimes the signal heads are also turned sideways to take them out of view.

Limit of Shunt signs are exactly what they say. They mark the furthest point on a single line you can shunt to from a station without being in possession of the relevant single line token.

The limit of shunt/shunt limit sign or laterally, signal (a more modern version which consists of two red position lights) is generally used where shunting is permitted wrong direction on a line and it cannot cannot be passed. It's essentially a fixed stop (home) signal which is permanently on. For a better description, look here.

There are too many variations of MAS to do what you ask, BUT it would (should) be possible to produce some covers as separate assets to be placed in front of the signal lenses. I've seen signals covered up with everything from black plastic bags to sheets of chipboard, can you provide some good quality 'square on' photos of what covers you want ?

If not then it's rather difficult to do as you request and make cover assets.

Presumably, OP would want the signal to be non-functional, so a simple covering asset wouldn't be adequate without other arrangements.

Good point, but for own use, cloning the signal asset and making a simple edit of the signals config file should do the trick. Permission would be required for release of course.

This brings up another point. Would it be better to make a scenery object then?

Over here some inactive signals, including those that haven't been activated yet are turned sideways to prevent headlights from reflecting off the aspects and confusing the drivers. I mentioned that up above too.

It depends on how much effort you want to put in. It is possible to use any existing signal as a scenery object by putting it on its own short piece of invisible track, not connected to anything.

That's one way. The alternative, which I've done with some wagons and locomotives quite effectively, is remove the working parts and changed the kind to scenery. With the locomotive and wagons, I had to reassemble the parts, including bogies that I turned to scenery objects too, but with a single object like a signal it won't even be an active light and can be placed anywhere, which leads to other things that can be done including laying it down on the ground, for example.

I'm guessing it's the signal in the top right of the picture here and the signal pictured here.

Yes, that is the exact one. :)

I think sometimes it is a box with a white st Andrews cross that is placed over the signal aspect.

Maybe on Trainz, you could make a decommissioned signal with 2,3 and 4 aspects that is either a line side object or scenery possibly?

White crosses are attached to out of use semaphore arms. Sometimes the same practice is followed for colour lights but more often they are covered over with what amounts to a black plastic bag!

Yer I know but I've seen examples of boxes with a white cross over colourights.

Why not make use of the mesh's existing bogie attachment points and eliminate the process of having to separately move the bogies into place? :)

Kieran.
