Signal change delay

Ok I know this has been discussed before but I cant seem to find the relevant posts. Im getting a little frustrated in that signals are staying on red right up until the loco is almost stationary at it. This is obviously not good if the train is meant to be an express hauling though at 60mph. How do I get the signals to change in advance so that the train does not have to slow when it has an obviously clear route?

thanks in advance
Antony

Check if there are any junctions after it - quite often a train changes these at the last minute, especially if there is more than one before the next signal.

Thanks Shane. The answer to that is yes there are junctions ahead. But it is annoying that every train is slowing down at the signals

I get similar issues when doing 125mph runnings.

I've managed to get partly round the issue by having a signal between each junction.

Thanks again Shane. I tried that at the one signal that is causing the most problem. I m not sure if Im just using the wrong signals or not but it had no effect. I even tried putting in an invisible signal within 20ft of the problem signal but it still slows the train down to about 8mph before letting it through.

would also depend on if the signal is always controlled or not. these will not clear in advance ever and will always require the train to stop before clearing. check what type of signal asset you are using in that location and if it is configured that way.

Thanks. What in particular am I looking for? I am assuming this will be in the config.txt file?

If your junctions are converging and the points are aligned against the flow of traffic you will get a red signal, make sure all of your junctions are aligned for you traffic flow direction. Also it helps if your track marks are behind the signal if you are using track marks using the dive/navigate to commands.

Hi,

I had same problem a while back..what sorted my problem and still does is boat's SEN CITY Sig 3A Lhs signals...now my trainz fly through.

Hope this does the same to your route as it did to mine mate .

Brad

P.S just noticed your on TS12 ?? i'm using TS10 but hope it works still on TS12..Good luck.

Thanks for the help. Im currently using the Sig BR(W) signals as they seem to be the ones that animate correctly.

Hi

I make extensive use of the path rule which prevents problems with the AI and came up against this problem on the S&C route. The solution is to ensure that the path is set for at least two blocks ahead instead of just for the one immediately ahead of the train. If the AI is setting the route ahead itself, it may not be setting it up far enough ahead at that particular point on the route. If it is navagating to a trackmark just after the junction then try moving the trackmark to after the next section.

If you read the signalling guide on the Trainz Classics website http://www.trainzclassics.co.uk/ it explains how the signalling block system works in later versions of Trainz and why the signal clears after you slow down to about 7 mph.

Brian

Just a thought but have you tried to place a target feather ahead of the signal. I know with the scripted junctions the signal looks for a target feather and animates only when it see's one. Might work.

I think there is a limit to how far ahead the AI will look beyond a signal, so don't have them too far apart.
Also check your signal sequence as I think the the AI will treat a home (stop) signal as a calling on if it's not followed by a distant (I've found this very useful with a yard off of a main line as it slows any train entering the sidings).

Chris.
