Show off your reskins!

Thanks! I still plan to do SP, SP/RI (Bots for the Arizona Limited), NYC 1946, and NYC 1938. They all have similar paint schemes and window arrangements, so it shouldn't be too much work.

Who says old models can't shine like new?

Took SandMan2's old CN Caboose, (image directly below)

and turned it into this:

With K&L's recent release of a CB&Q 4-8-4, I figured it could use a caboose

Keep your eyes open for some new releases at VLW

I have a slight problem with my first reskins from scratch. It's actually me trying to take newyorkcentral's Norfolk & Western passenger cars and trying to match the colors to whitepass' Norfolk & Western heavyweights. I used gimp to match the colors of the reskins to whitepass' cars, and they looked like a good match in PEV's Trainz Mesh Viewer, but in Trainz itself, the colors do not match. Newyorkcentral's cars are a better match to whitepass', even though I used the exact same colors as whitepass' Norfolk & Western coach. Can anyone help me?

Note:
I also need some help finding the correct text used on the Norfolk & Western cars because I would like to reletter them 'TENNESSEE VALLEY' for the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, since I've got Southern 4501 and I need some passenger cars to haul behind her. The closest text that I can think of is Times New Roman, even then I need to know the correct shade of gold the letters are, plus the font size, to make the reskins as close to the prototype as possible. I'm also thinking about doing to the same to mcguirel's Norfolk & Western coaches included in Trainz 12. I need to build up a fleet to haul behind 4501.

I think they used Helvetica Bold on the whole railroad... However the TVRR cars do look more like a roman font...

and now I wish I had done that great of a job so I could release those :/ dang my reskin skills just got pwnd

It is all practice-practice-practice. You never really stop learning. I highly recommend watching How-To videos on Youtube with people weathering and painting model trains, it can help you with shading and weathering paint techniques. Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate the support.

Started work on the F40s today as well:

cheers,
