Show off your reskins!

Drove down to the railroad tracks with the SLR.. This is the result.

Was originally JR Lt Grey. New ballast, new ties, new plates, new bump map.

Oh my, you now have TS12 and Jointed Rail content. Like I read when I saw some of your other TS12 shots, "it's a miracle" :hehe:

Yep. More or less, I really am kinda regretting the landrvr1 requests thing because now I can't go rambo with the reskins and routes. So I might have to sadly cut a deadline on it.

Cheers,
Joshua

Those Budweiser colors actually look really good on her.. Nice job!

After further refinement.. My final reskin of JR LT Grey.. It matches the color tone to the original set now so it doesn't look out of place on other routes and I went ahead and replaced the rail too.

Thanks.. It is a payware model off RRMods.. $10, 3 cabeese! :) Really nicely modeled, high quality stuff and mapped just the way I like it.. Every nut, bolt, and thingymabob is its own separate item.. No sharing!

That is the problem I have with stuff when I'm reskinning: sometimes you just run in to some of the craziest mapping issues. I'll have to check them out!

Been there too many times in Trainz already and even Railworks when I repainted stuff for it.. It sucks putting in hours of work just to find out for some reason someone decided the cab door should also be mapped to the exhaust stack etc etc etc. I'm not complaining but I will admit I'm a total texture snob.. :hehe:

What I just noticed: The steps on the prototype are white, yours are green.

The prototype is "worn off paint and now nothing but bare metal".. I opted to go all green again how it once was some odd many years ago. (although I was really curious why just the paint on the steps wore off so bad and no where else) There are a lot of inconsistencies since no two cabooses are identical. The Trainz model didn't even have the side windows. I had to make those. :) With a lot of repaints you have to make compromises and just aim for a really really good overall representation of what you're going after.

If you were from California I could understand being mystified by the wear on the steps, but New Jersey gets snow in the winter. How many times have you scraped snow ice mud - and a lot of rock salt - off your boots on the edge before climbing stairs or ladders? Ever think about what rock salt does to paint?
