Should I get 2006 or 2009?

Well, I'm running XP 64 bit and I'm playing the TS2006 demo. It runs well, so compatibility isn't a problem. Is Isam right, does 2009 have more content then 2006? 'Cause I want the version with the most content to keep me busy.
 
There is a magical place called 'the download station'...:o

But the only thing I find wrong with '06, is the occasional sound bug (mainly not being able to hear whistles, but that's no biggy).

CMP has never gone wrong for me either. All in all, everything works great.

Yeah, I know about the DLS. I just want to know which version has more content out of the box. ;)
 
You know what? It's fine to ask people here what the differences are between the versions, but don't rely on anyone's post here to make your decision. Each of us is slanted to wards a certain version, each of us has experienced a certain version running well for us when it might not run as well for you. There are so many variables in the users and their PC's that we couldn't possibly give you a definitive answer.

I'm afraid it's "buyer beware" my friend, each version has it's pros and cons, but how they will work for you is a mystery that won't be revealed until after you've installed the last patch.

I wish you luck in your choice. Remember,...behind one of the versions is a hungry tiger!;)

Well, to say that 2009 has its problems, and alot of not working content, is simply a fact and very definitive.
He will buy a beta-software. That doesnt mean he wont be happy with it, IF he puts effort in sorting out content and building his own.
Otherwise he will be stuck with a ton of content from the DVD and DLS but not beeing able to run half of it because 1. its not up to 2009 standards and 2. its not up to 2009 quality, and the compatibility mode has its flaws.

This will probably change when 2009EE comes out, but atm, what i stated above is fact, not opinion. Now he can decide if he can live with it or not, for me it works anyway, so i'm not bashing 2009.

But if you look closely on what he is asking (lots of content) then i think he wont be happy with 2009 at this point.
 
I made my decision. I'll get TC1/2 then TC3 (TC is stand alone, right?) and then finally Trainz '06 (since you can't buy online and so you'll have to wait a few weeks to ship it.)

Get 2009 i have it and i have no problems using it. disney monorail map does work in TS2009.:D
 
just do your own research. asking directly will only get you opinions and hype. if you read this forum you will find plenty of info that is not biased opinion on which to base your decision.
