Setting handbrakes

Press the "A" key once which sets 5-6 pounds of brake pressure. The "A" key is the train brake valve in the locomotive which sets the brakes on the complete train including the locomotive(s). Uncouple and advance the throttle to the first or second notch while pushing the "D" key multiple times which bails off the locomotive(s) brakes. Once you are completely uncoupled press the "Q" key which returns the train brake valve("A"key) to the off position. You can watch your gauges on the locomotive control stand return to normal. Auran has this set-up exactly like a real locomotive operates.

Except in the real world here in the states we make at least a 20lb. reduction on the automatic before we cut away from the train. The angle cock behind the engines is not closed until the exhaust has stopped and the standing portion of the train is left in emergency with hand brakes applied.
