i would like to know how to set a path for every single train in my session for a route i'm using, by that i mean i want every train to have switches set for them when they are ready to go. can someone tell me how to do that in the easiest way? other than putting down commands which confuses them where to go...........

This is a very broad question. There are many factors involved in setting a path. Like, will any of the trains cross paths, timing, will any be stopping at industries etc. There is a set path rule and a set junction rule. They could be used separately or they could be used in conjunction with each other. You could also use a trigger check rule and set junctions just a few miles ahead. So as you can see there is a lot to consider.

... and what happens when the paths of two train conflict? Millions of dollars are spent trying to eliminate that problem in the real world.

Use the schedule library and put a list of commands in for each run you have.
To help smooth running your going to have to put a lot of track marks in and use navigate via t/mark.

Apart from using red track markers combined with "drive via" (which I find are more reliable than "navigate via") yellow directional markers are pretty useful for keeping the AI on your preferred track. Use yellow when you can and red when you can,t which reduces the need for "drive" commands.
