Yes use the portal timetable rule. this rule will let you set the time a train is emitted, plus other times you want that train to enter again, Set as many difference train as you need/with difference drivers.

Thanks fpr reply, I've downloaded it but cannot get it to work as I'm guessing at the set-up. Do you know if there are any instructions of how to set it up ?

Portal TimeTable Rule

What specific problem are yopu encountering. I have set-up this rule many times with the only problem being the schedule time is difficult to read because the letters are off-white on a white background. I like to make up my trains in Surveyor first so I can see the finished train. I then save it as a consist so it is easy to load into the Portal Time Table Rule.

I don't really know where to start, I have already got a portal set up on the route with six consits in place, I copied them to the rule as as a test set the time to 00:01 which I take it as 1 minute but nothing happened.
Could you take the trouble of guiding me through the set up step by step. How should the portal itself be set up ? I think this is where I may be going wrong but I just don't know

First click on edit session rules
scroll down to Portal timetable rule
click on it
click edit
omitting portal (name of your portal)
click on add new timetable (00:01 should work)
click on add existing saved train
choose train
click on add driver to consist
choose driver
click on green arrow
choose Drive to-Drive to trackmark-or Drive via trackmark.

I know you have some of this done but thought that if anyone mite want to know.

I have now done this but still not working. What settings do you have actual on layout portal set to ? ie do you have the same trains loaded here and what time setting ? is it empty or what ?

There is a short documentation on Portal Timetable rule setup on my web site at http://pierre.guy.free.fr/cariboost_files/portal_20timetable_20rule_20tutorial_20v1en.pdf

About your setup description, I see you enter a time of 00:01 which requires the rule emiting the train 1 minute after midnight. Do you have also setup your current gametime to midnight in the startup rule to see the train coming 1 or 2 minutes later ( train portal operation usualy takes about 1 minute to produce the train). If not you need to wait current time to be 00:01 which can very long as default startup gametime is usually 10:00.

pguy.

in option i set time to 23:59 also set my train to emit 00:01 most of my trains are empty (like to see them load/unload at ind) what is your starting time when you start the session ? if it is set at 10:00 then you will have to wait tell 23:59 and two minutes before your train will come out of the portal. Set your starting time at 23:59 and see if that don't help.

Thanks guys, I understand the time element now but when I start game at 10:00 and set train at 10:04 nothing happened.
I still need to know about the on layout portal, how should this be set up as I think the problem may be here.
Should the consists be in both the on layout portal and in the portal timetable and if so what what frequency do I put in the " produce trains every " box. I hope I've made it clear what I mean

Portal timetable rule train emition is independant from the portal parameters. The portal setup should be with the default values : no train emition and consume all trains.
If you configure the portal for train emition, you should have both portal local emition based on frequency and portal timetable rule train emition based on absolute time in the portal timetable rule setup.
Can you give us more details on your setup configuration : have you setup a driver ? an initial schedule ? on which trainz version are you runing the test ?
Have you tried another surveyor consist ?

Yes I finally sussed it out and I'm very pleased with how its working, thanks again for your help.
