Trainz Plus - enjoy Trainz from just 20 cents a da
The September Newsletter is running a little behind schedule so here's a very quick update for the "Forum faithful".

Trainz Classics Patch: A new content and code update for TC3 was released last week. Check out http://www.TrainzClassics.com for more details. There are also a number of awesome new locos available from the UKTrainz team at http://www.TrainzClassics.co.uk.

Shop Update: As part of an ongoing site upgrade, the Trainz Shop has had a make-over. Check it out at http://www.auran.com/auran/shop.php. Further upgrades will be happening over the coming weeks and months.

Download Station: On the Shop page you will notice that we are closing in on the 100,000 items available on the Trainz Download Station. This is a magnificent achievement, so please make sure you congratulate the thousands of contributors for their tireless efforts.

Railroad Lines: For the "gamers" amongst you, the fun Railroad Lines is now available for both boxed copy order and Digital Download.

Trainz Simulator 2009: The news everyone is waiting for is progress on the upcoming TS2009. The Developer Preview builds have been well received and content creators are getting a good idea of the new features and power that will be unleashed in November.

The Trainz team have done some awesome work with Content Manager, terrain, new AI functions, searching/filtering/replacing content and of course getting the new Trainz Online browser embedded into the game. The new Trainz Online website including the new Gallery section should be ready for preview in a week or so.

We're getting close to Beta testing time and we'll be making this a far more open process than in the past. Stay tuned for more details.

Keep an eye out for the newsletter and head over to the latest thread where you can drool over all the benefits the Trainz hobby brings.

I'm definitely interested in beta testing. Got a huge route I'm working on in TRS06, so I can probably put TS09 to the test. I also have a LOT of time<g>

Recommended specs are "as good as you can afford". Seriously, Trainz is the sort of product that can always bring any computer to its knees just by adding more and more detail to your world. We've also extended the draw distance to 5km so that in itself is about 10 times more terrain to draw.

Think of your answer if I said "What size house do I need to build my model railroad?".

Having said all that, our goal is for Trainz to run on pretty much the same spec as previous versions. Recommended would be a decent 1-2 year old machine with 256MB Graphics card, 2GB RAM and a decent processor.

The key to getting good performance will be more abot finding the right detail settings - draw distance, texture resolution etc.

Seems I don't need a new machine just yet:Y: .
To be honest the only thing I dread (setting aside finances) about updating is Vista.
I've heard so many bad reports about it (not only in trainz) it puts me off.

Hmmm, 5 km viewing distance is just beautiful. I imagine we will be able to lower the slider to our taste just like actual version to get the best compromise between frame rate and viewing distance ???

I can get 5 km draw distance with TRS2004 using Trainz Tuner but my old machine can't handle it with the routes I create. My fault not Auran's.:hehe:

What kind of video system will one need to view 5Km on a fairly detailed route?
I can't imaging my GeForce 6800 keeping frame rates high enough with such distance.
It's also going to lead to much larger routes, since you will have to have something to see that far from trackside!

how do i uninstall this program, i accidently installed it thinking it was for trainz classics 1&2 edtion, please help! I messed up my software!:'( :'(

Which program?

If you are using windows O/S you can goto control panel and select add/remove games and remove the game that you wish to get rid of.

Click on 'My Computer' / C Drive (or whatever drive TRS is installed on) / Program Files/ : and delete the Auran Folder. If you have more than one version of trainz installed and only want to remove one of them:- Open the Auran folder and delete the appropriate folder, IE 2006.
You will probably have to remove the corresponding files from your registry as well.
