Searching for a Simple Point-to-Point Route

I am searching for a simple point-to-point route, either ficticious, or factual, based in the United States. I have downloaded several routes, thinking they may be good ones, but they turn out too complicated.

I am looking for a route that is single track from one small yard to another small yard. (I like the Mojave subdivision, but am looking for another route). I would like to see passing sidings, and good signalling. I do NOT want lots of branch lines, and tracks winding all over causing confusion.

Do any of you have any ideas?

Thank you for your help.

Dean

well dean, im working on a LIRR mini route. it will have about 2-4 branches, and will be somehwere around 50-100mi of RoW (the LIRR has like 10+ branches and has over 700mi of track)

its not gonna be done anytime soon, but when it is, it will probally be what you're looking for.

good hunting!:)

Unfortunately, I cannot make the Riverside Railroad work in TrainZ12. This seems to be the case most of the time. Overkill, it sounds like your railroad would be nice.

This morning, I have been trying out the Ozark Valley Railroad. So far, I am very impressed. This may be the one I use for a while.

For a smaller point to point, try "The Loop" It has been updated to 2010 standards and is very scenic.

Wot?

Hi Dean --

"Unfortunately, I cannot make the Riverside Railroad work in TrainZ12."

Could you expand on this please? It should install and run perfectly. If you can explain the issue we can probably help.

Dean,

I am working on a TS12 version of my Ozark Valley. Hope to have it on the Download Station soon.

Cheers,

Dave

Thank you for "The Loop" suggestion, I will try it out.

As far as the Riverside is concerned, like so many routes, I downloaded it. It seems as though everything worked fine, but when I go into TrainZ, it is not listed in my list of routes.

Dave, are you the person who created the Ozark Valley? So far, I really like it.

I noticed your comments said you changed some speed limits. So far, my only real concern is that speed limits are too high. I like all of the curves, but the train looks like it is whipping around the curves at 60mph. I have not had a lot of time to test the route out, but when I have time, I want to drive it quite a bit and see how things go. I was planning to edit the speed limits, and drop them down quite a bit (most from 60mph to 45 mph). If you are soon putting a new version on the download station, I would rather wait and download the new version.

I like your signalling. So many routes have the signals too close. When I get a yellow signal, I don't have time to stop by the time I get to the next red signal. So far, your signals look like they will work very good.

Thank you for producing a really nice, scenic railroad.

Are you running 2012? I'm not sure if it works in 12, but the Clinch route from TPR is an excellent route! Its not point to point but would only take 30 mins or less to put a yard or loop in on one end because the other end has a large yard.

If you have trouble locating "The Loops" look for kuid2:439337:100157:1 by msgsapper. There are no "loops" per se, just a couple of horseshoe type curves. Although well detailed, it is easy on frame rates. There are portals at each end, but you do not have to use them. It is now one of my favorite routes for running steam.

The most fabulous small route is GFisher-Down East Fishing Village.

I installed BNSF50 Invisatrack in the roadway, and I added two baseboards on the two ends, where I have 2 multitrack staging yards added on to the route.

By studying this extremely small route, it will teach you all about texturing and trees.

You are welcome Dean.

I agree the speed limits may be too high in some places. You are free to change them to whatever you desire. I placed the signals so as to use A.I trains on the single track mainline and (try to) avoid cornfield meets. For me, they work just about all the time. Occasionally, I will have to go to an area and sort out A.I. trains who have bunched up, but I use a lot of A.I. trains.

The TS12 version of Ozark Valley is in the works. However, I haven't changed the speed limits in this version either.

Cheers,

Dave

Simple Point-to-Point Route

I have a couple of routes that are point to point.USA-CSX they were put on the DLS to get some commits on them before i put the senery on it.
They are for MP built in 12.
They have about 55 miles of track with passing siding ten stations ten towns for switching. A portal at each end to turn the trains around.
The switches are named as when you throw the switch that where the train will go. Everything on this route is built-in or on DLS.
Try it let me know what you think? If you don't like it just delete it.(stell let me know what you think)

" ... like so many routes ... ." Is that all or some?

If the former, you may need to click on the star at the very top of the route list. This toggles the "Show only favourite routes and sessions" on/off.

If the latter, have you patched to the latest version? Have you checked in Content Manager to see that the routes are actually there? If they are, do they have any error messages?

I have tried The Loops and have found it to be an excellent route. It has nice scenery, and is very high quality. As of now, I plan to concentrate on The Ozark Valley and The Loops. Both of them seem to be built to high quality standards.
