I can set up the train section ok, but can't see where I get to the Path, Autopilot, etc commands??

Hi Dick

Apologies for the delay in replying but I've only just seen your post. Your post is a bit obscure so can you tell me if you have used SCS before? By train section do you mean the Content Builder section? Have you read the brief manual that is available to download from the dropbox link that you got the editor from? If you can answer those question for me I'll have a better idea of how to help you.

Regards

Brian

I am new to the program. I am using the Readme startup instructions. I am to the point where I have created a Scenario Thread, added the train at trackmark, set time, set camera, started the thread and now would like to use the Autopilot, Path Command , etc.... The only thing that seemed odd was Starting The Train unless that means starting the commands for the specific train. Just meen to get those other commands. Also, I have Expert Mode checked.

Hi again Dick

Each consist in SCS runs in its own separate thread. Highlight your session in Scenarios Manager and then click on Scenarios (top Menu) and you will see a menu item Train Threads. If you click on that it will bring up a list of the consists being used in your session. Click on the one that you want to edit and it will open an editor where you can enter or edit all of the commands for that consist.

The Start Train Thread command is used to start the particular consist that you are using. Threads can be stopped for a length of time and then resumed at a future time. e.g. a consist arrives in a yard and waits for two hours before resuming its journey. The thread can be stopped when it arrives in the yard and then restarted just before it is due to leave. This reduces the resources needed while the consist is stationary in the yard which can be helpful if you have an older computer which is struggling to keep up with the game.

Hope this is some help but if you need any further assistance just post back. I am about to go to bed (we're a bit ahead of you timewise on this side of the pond) but I will check this thread in the morning and respond to any questions then.

Regards

Brian

Brian is correct in that as you add a consist the program automatically adds a Train Thread using the consist name. These can be found under Scenarios ( Menu Bar ) - Train Threads and then open the pick list arrow to see the threads. Chose the consist you wish to add commands for and all of the Train type commands will appear in the command box on the right.

Some commands will show up in both the Scenario and the Train thread areas and some commands are just located in one thread style. Scenario threads are for just setting up and controlling the overall part of the session. Train threads are for controlling each train.

Thanks to both. I did not realize there was a Scenario Thread or, at least that it had the additional set of commands. I hopefully know enough now to get something to work. I used to get paid to program so the IF-Then-Else stuff should not become too confusing
Thanks
