For what it’s worth, my view is that entries should stick to the rules, and that should include keeping to the theme of the week.
More recently, most weeks’ competitions do not have a theme - so there is ample opportunity for contestants who cannot come up with something relevant, to post off topic entries. When there is a theme, isn’t it better to stick with the rules? It’s only fair on those who have made an effort to keep to the subject IMHO.
Having said that, if we are allowed to rule-break, it does open up some new possibilities. How about multiple entries and only getting half points?
I have more than enough to post one per hour between now and the close date (on and off topic).
That should keep the thread regularly bumped to the top of the Screenshots page and encourage a few more entries!

when I go to the European screenshot thread, I don't expect to see shots of Union Pacific or BNSF. Same for Union Pacific thread. I don't expect to see shots of British or German trains. The only reason I can think of to post out of theme shots is to get an unusual amount of attention or start a ruckus like has happened here. It is like hijacking a thread. Why doesn't PerRock go post his superliner shots in a Japanese shot or a PRR thread. Maybe they would fit nicely in here. http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=63750&page=6

Hard to imagine this peaceful walking path was once a busy mainline. The fact that the path is named the "Great Western Trail" is not the only reminder of the Chicago Great Western's once great artery into Chicago. If you look closely, you can almost see the headlight of an engine far off in the distance...

LOL! I should have used that for the Halloween themed contest!
BTW, you guys don't think I can swap out pictures, do you? It's essentially the same thing, just a few extra details that I just noticed I left out. They would really tie into the whole abandonment theme. Not that I particularly think it will help my chances.
If not, I'll just have to live with it the way it is.
