Greetings.

1. Weekly SSoTW cycles are extended to bi-weekly to allow more entries to join in.
2. There will still be occasional themed weeks but this would be reserved for major holidays and notable dates.
3. There will no longer be a voting week after submissions close.
4. You can vote for entries as soon as they're posted by "liking" them, so send your entries in early to give it a longer voting period.
5. You can "like" as many entries as you want!
6. The "likes" are tallied at the end of each cycle and results posted as usual. Any "likes" after this are not counted.
7. If you have feedback or suggestions regarding the new system, feel free to also leave them in the replies below.

There is no theme this week.
One screenshot allowed per entrant. Screenshots must adhere to the Trainz Forum Code of Conduct.

Submissions and voting close on March 30.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi, everybody , and thanks again for your votes...

Trimetwesfan1003 , do you realy think flowers are enough ti win this contest ? Try another time friend...

My best wishes to all peacefull TRAINZERS! Friendly, Marc

Whoever didn't like mine must hate flowers.
It is hard to say. I did like the spring theme, and I must admit that sometimes I cannot for the life of me figure out why some folks get the top votes. Often just a train on a track, but a popular poster, I guess, as others don't get near as many with something similar. Sometimes it really takes something unique to pull the votes in. But I can't really tell you what it is a lot of times.

just because you won doesn't give you the right to bash those who didn't win. You sound like the jerky champion character in a movie who thinks no one else can touch him cause he's the winner and uses that type of quote to bring down the hero.

Yes. Also, the winning photo isn't even that good. There's a lot of infrastructure cruft in front of the train plus the bland grey sky doesn't help. Also, i can clearly see the blue screen boarder at the top, which gives it the appearance of a hastily grabbed computer screenshot.

I started sneezing as soon as I saw them - bad case of hay fever and it is the start of Autumn (Fall) not Spring down here! (Plus it is April 1st here as well, always a bad day to be responding to the posts of others).

I did come equal first once and that was something of a mystery to me as well. If only I had logged in under a false account and voted for myself, an opportunity lost!

I think it is called "realism", something to be applauded, not criticised.

The rules do not state how the screenshot has to be made.

The main problems with your screenshot are the over saturated colours and the diesel locomotive and its train looking as static as the nearby houses.

Edit: My intention was to give you some clarification as to why your screenshot was overlooked and not voted on. I was not trying to insult your efforts, I was intending to give you some advice on how to improve your screenshots.

Hello, I did not think that my comment, which was meant to be humorous and friendly, would provoke such a debate... So a thousand apologies!
Regarding this competition, sometimes the votes go to images that do not necessarily speak to us, but that is the rule of this contest; participating means accepting not to win... I have been participating for 15 years, sometimes I have won, and sometimes not, it is the choice of the voters, and each individual reacts according to their own tastes and memories of trains... Since there are only a few themes proposed, sometimes we do not find interest in the eyes of the voters, and this gap is amplified by the various nationalities of the participants... But that is also the charm of this game which allows us to confront our cultures...

With all friendship, Marc

If you look at the winning photos in past competitions, and those that scored more votes in this one, you will note that they contain a lot of railway "clutter" (signals, power stanchions, trackside signal sheds, powerlines, railway "junk", etc). The winning entry had all of that, the bogie exchange scene by @whamm0 had a lot, even the minimalist covered station by @PortLineParker with its arched room and streaming sunlight had the "clutter".

The screenshots are not just about a train otherwise you could win by submitting a loco sitting on a blank flat untextured baseboard. A train is certainly a component of the scene (although there has been the odd themed competition where one was not required) but the best entries, in my non-artistic opinion (Art was the only subject I failed in my senior year at high school), are those where your eye is drawn away from the train to the other activities that are going on in the scene.
