Screenshot of the Week: Ends 12-11 - Abandon Railroads

Thank you very much))) I like to make different beautifull screens. But I think that it's the best my)))

If it didn't have unprototypical, seeming somewhat out of place, concrete ties...it would be my vote, and a PC desktop screensaver.

Where are those fantastic trees & grass's from ? Are they available for 06 too ?

I probably would have picked a different track, but I still think that the scene is absolutely awesome.

The line could of recently been abandoned, and with heavy rain fall, all the grass could of grown like that before the track starts showing signs of age...

Michcal, nice work there man! Nice work on the abandonement!

Only reason I can think of why that would be is if it were in Russia (applegathc) or it was in Texas or some other Southern US state and there was LITTLE to NO ballast on the tracks. Seriously, there is a spur in my town that has been abandoned for about 12 years now and a good part of it with ballast has no weeds on it.

Besides for my whining, It is a nice picture.

Ok, Ill go away again:wave:

Hello, I found this probably the best suggestion so far.

I've seen the pictures. Kirra nailed dead on what I think of abandoned lines. We have one out here, in fact, two. Both have ties, and ballast. On of it's rarely used lines still as a saddening pole that stands. What is so interesting? It is an old telegraph pole with a wooden box for a very old phone for the crossing protector on the ex-New York Central lines...

They make you sad, they made you interested. Abandoned railroads may be were railroaders can sit in peace and truly reminisce on railroading. I thought of the great pictures to come with this suggestion, and I wasn't disappointed.

MichCal2,
I saw the making of a great picture from you...but the aerial view wasn't the best choice on account of the 3D grass, however you did a great job.

WCL,
Your picture was great, but it looked too lively. I like how the GATX locomotive added more interest to the scene, but I was a tad surprised to see it.

Epo,
I swear, your sharpening your pictures! :hehe: (;) ) However, it adds a great touch. Your picture makes me feel the place around me. I accepted the locomotive and cars because they were so derelict.

Dave,
I like your editing, but I tried to peel that away. Once done, it's still great. You have a vote.

Cheers,
Joshua

The line on my screen has real prototype in Moscow. All phototextures I made there. I like old railroads very much and saw a lot of them.
