Screenshot of the Week Competition 11th-18th July

One from the UK.

How dare you post a shot of a West Country class steam train in this week’s competition?

It is particularly irritating that you should do so when the theme for the week quite clearly states, “Last Days of Steam”.

Shame on you for even considering it, much less having the sheer effrontery to post the image at all! I shall, of course, be writing to my MP and immediately reporting the post.

All joking aside, a very nice shot emo.

I do like the impressionist look of the image and the great use of textures. That’s a great choice of colours and tone as well. Subtle, but very effective and more than a little difficult to put together.

Unfortunately I won’t be around for the voting this week. Had I been, yours would certainly get one of my marks ... unless another three better ones come along. I doubt that they will!

Cheers
Casper

The theme is the last days of steam. Says nothing that it has to have steam trains in it. And the 1970's were the final days of steam.

hert:wave:

Actually sense I am a steam nut, steam was gone by 1960 well in US. As for other countries some still use and are making new steam locomotives.

Actually no it wasnt, Steam engines were continued to be used on shortlines throughout the USA in until the late 1970's although it was uncommon to see them. Therefore the final days of steam were in the 1970's. And also I like how your complaining about peoples pics, apparently afraid of some competition.

I just want to end this now. Plus I mean 1960 steam had been taken off all main lines, off course there is steam 1970s 1980s etc steam still around but not for everyday main line use of course. Na I just posted to for the power of steam. Steam will live forever in my book

Very cool! It reminds me of the HO layouts I saw as a kid with the turbines next to the Big Boys + Challengers. Classic Union Pacific and a true representation of why I love that railroad through your screenshot.

Cheers,
Joshua

Thanks! Yep. One of the reasons why I love that railroad too. Unfortunately my video card is terrible, so it turned out all pixely.

The roundhouse comes with Trainzitalia's Sherman Hill route. It's payware, but well worth it.

one of the last steam-hauled freights on the Canadian National runs over an ancient trestle. Coincidentaly, this run would show the old engine to F. Neslon Blount, who would buy her and save he from obilivion.

An refurbished Delaware and Hudson Railway Passenger train passes by a Southern Pacific steam engine carrying World War 2 railway guns in the late 1960s at Dusk.
