A question about about I am doing a web design course and we have to do a website. I haven choosen to do a website about trs2006. The qustion is would there be any copyright issues with putting screenshots from trainz2006 on the website?. The website is not going to be put on the internet. I hope this is not a stupid question

No, if you are making the screenshots yourself there is no problem.

The answer will depend on local copyright laws.

Even if you have made the screenshots yourself (by pressing the PrintScreen button) is all the content in the screenshot your own creation? Are the displayed assets your own work or the work of others?

In Australia students are allowed to use copyrighted materials for projects that have been set as a part of their course work provided the work is not used for any purpose other than the set assessment - after the project has been finished and assessed you cannot then use it for commercial purposes or even distribute it to others for any purpose.

As an author of computer text books I have used screenshots from Trainz and other computer games and application programs in my books - always with permission from the software copyright owners and other interested third parties - but then my purpose was commercial.

the screenshot as I said my original post is for a website project which is not going to put up on the web. it is just for assessment for the web design course. thank you for your answers

What is the name of the book?

There are about 9 books going as far back as 1994 with the latest published in 2006 - all are high school texts specific to the various grade 7 to 12 computing courses that are run here in New South Wales.
