Screen is minimized

OK I bought some stuff from Jointed Rail last night. My computer always has a few issues opening up the game right after. It is just a quirk it has. Anyway it locked it up to the point that I had to force shut it down. It started its data base diagnostic which from my previous post takes 3 plus hours. The game is on a laptop so I closed the lid which is set on the manager to only shut off the display. I got up this morning and It was still going. I left for work and came home and opened the lid. The game was windowed into a little display that says trainz with a number that keeps changing from 1 - 9 with the x to close it on the right. My guess is it is the same number or numbers that appear when you open up the task manager and it has a number that keeps jumping from 1 to 999 or whatever. The window is so small I only get the very first number. Now that's if a open it up as administrator. If I simply open it up then I get a normal screen and it behaves as you would expect opening that way. The maps are normal unless you have worked on a map then the colors are all screwed up. I have restarted the computer and tried f keys and alt and ctrl keys with different combinations of keys to no avail. I right click on the little box to try and maximize the screen but, it is grayed out. The only option available is close.
I am sure it is a real simple fix that I simply am to computer stupid to figure out. Thanks in advance.

The likely cause is actually a setting under Options on the Launcher - check the Full Screen option under Display Settings.

There's a possibility that your graphics driver has crashed due to you closing your lid. Try switching to Open/GL then back to DirectX and ensure that your resolution is set to the same as your laptop display. This will hopefully "reset" the display back to normal.

The long loading process, after installing 3rd-party assets, is caused by the program validating the new content. This process can take time so it's best to let the machine do its thing before attempting to load up any activities in Trainz such as driving or surveyor. If you had left your machine alone, after clicking on multiple items, it would have come alive again. The problem is the validation process is eating up tons of CPU cycles which causes the lock ups. Once the resources are released your mouse will come back to life.

The numbers you see in task manager, and when you run Trainz in windowed mode, is actually a display of the program's frame rates.

Last night while just monkeying around I noticed my last restore point for windows was a few days ago. I thought what the heck lets give it a try. Now when I click on run as administrator the program runs normally again. Don't know why it worked but, I am never shutting the cover again whenever It is doing the data base check.
Thanks to those who offered help and advise.
In regards to the last post I have to keep reminding myself when I load the Mojave map to wait for a little bit. I have to give it a couple of minutes after I see the map right in front of me. Let the rest of the map to load, then start working on placing buildings and track.
