The contract to electrify the inter-city express line between Scotland's first and second cities has now been announced so hopefully work will commence soon. It is one of the busiest lines with trains every 15 minutes during the day and 30 minutes in the evening.
A long time back now, I mentioned that Glasgow to Edinburgh has 4 separate passenger lines between the 2 cities and I reckon that here is nowhere else in the world with such a great passenger service! One of them had originally been cloed back in the 1960's So I muse that this must be a record? They travel on 4 quite separate route lines by the way. Meanwhile the track is now being laid on the future re-opening on the Border 35 mile line and so far keeping to the cost and time schedule. All going well it will be open in 2015.
