Saving TranzDEM maps with UTM?

Hi all,
I just got TranzDEM and must say that it's very handy! One thing I'd like to know, is it possible to save the UTM maps you imported on the DEM? TranzDEM crashed on me when I was exporting them to the map in Trainz after importing 145 UTM maps (took 45min)! It's kind of a pain having to redo all this work!

Thanks in advance!

Do it in stages. TransDEM may run out of the 2 GB memory space it can allocate and may not always catch the out-of-memory exception in due time.

Use the rectangular mask to mark an initial area on your map collection where you want to export as UTM tiles. Load only those map clippings needed for this mask. The number of map clippings you can load and export in one go will depend on on clipping dimensions. With something like 1200 x 800 pixels per clipping I would keep the number of loaded images well below 100.

Then repeat the load/mask/export step for adjacent areas of similar size.

Thanks for the reply. Finally got it to work properly and I must say thank you for such a great piece of software. I never thought $30 could be so well invested! :-)

Cheers

Will there be an update of TranaDem for TS2009_SP2?

I am currently using TS09 and I was able to create a small route using TransDEM 1.3 (1st route I will ever create... so I need some practice). I can say that it worked very nicely and created everything flawlessly... but it did take me some time to get there due to my inexperience!!!

Cheers

Yes, you can use TransDEM to make routes for TS2009. The problem arises once you open the route in TS09, the file format changes and TransDEM can no longer read it. Therefore, you cannot further "edit" the route in TransDEM.

As far as I know, an update to the program is in the works, but a release date is unknown. I'm sure you will be made aware of it's release though...

I think my problem was that I had already upgraded TS2009 to SP1. The structure of the .gnd and other files was revised from the original TS09 release, so I could no longer export a route from TransDem to TS09.

I have not attempted to work between TransDem and TS09 since installing SP2.
Maybe I will play around with a new route.
