TranzDEM easy question...I think

Well, I bought TranzDEM back in April. Opened and closed it a few times, feeling intimidated...until this week when I thought I'd sit down and finally figure it out.
A one hour work-as-you-go session using the Quick Start Tutorial and the Map Tile Server Tutorial is all I needed to get my first 25 mile route in Trainz...first try! I didn't even need to play with the sample DEM. I just made the area I was interested in from the start. Very nice program! So much nicer then the old MircoDem way of doing things.
Now for the question. I'm sure I'm just missing a small part, or maybe it's simply "it is what it is". When my Dem's are put in Trainz, I not only get my finished track line, but the "rough plotting" lines are also there. It's no big deal, but if it's a small thing to fix and do it right...why not? My mind is saying I'm probably not renaming a file or something? Thanks in advance!

I'm guessing that you do not want your "rough plotting" lines to appear. If that is the case, then in the Export dialog in TransDEM, in the Overlay Bitmap (Ground Texture) area, make sure "Show Route" is unchecked.

Good job, Rick!

Here's another helpful hint.

Instead of sending exported routes to my T:ANE or TS12 editing folder where they can get lost, I have setup a TransDEM/Data/Export folder on one of my drives. Any route that gets exported is sent there and then it's easily imported into T:ANE /TS12 via Content Manager.

There are advantages to doing this. First you can backup your exported routes separately and not lose them during a database repair, which I know in T:ANE will empty the editing folder. It's also much easier then to find what you are looking for when repairing assets or doing other things that require the editing folder and not have to dig through imported routes.

And finally the goody of all...There's a tool in TransDEM to raise or lower an existing Trainz route. Yes! It works most of the time and extremely helpful. With this separate folder it makes this process work easy as well.

@Sharknose: I want to show the route, but not the initial cropping lines.
First you trace the route crudely for TranzDEM to define the area, then you zoom in and precisely trace the route. It's the initial crude tracing lines I was wondering if they could be eliminated. No big deal either way...just wonder. Thanks for the thought

@Jcitron: Thanks for the tips. I'm still a hardcore '04 guy

Are your "rough" and "precise" tracings in the same route file (*.str or *.kml - whatever you used)? I always put my "rough" and "precise" routes tracings in 2 separate files. When you export to Trainz, make sure only the "precise" route file is loaded into TransDEM.
