let me see if i can make my self clear so you guys can help me. iI have a route ready to run in driver. first i go to surveyor mode and make sure all is well then i hit control-f2 and go to driver mode. here i have my AI drivers do a few waybills and then i save the session. i get out of the game and then come back in and go to saved sessions and load the session i saved earlier. i have not changed anything. when the session loads i can only play manually, the AI will not work at all. the drivers are still there but will not respond to any commands. what am i doing wrong or is the game messed up? sorry to be such trouble but this is driving me nuts.[probably don't have far to go anyway] thanks for ANY help.

This sounds like a very familiar problem with a very simple solution.

When you enter Surveyor do you select the route and then click the Edit Route button?

If so, then that is more than likely to be the cause of your problem.

Always enter surveyor by:-
  1. select the route you want to edit,
  2. click the Sessions button (in 2009, 2010 and 12) on the bottom right of the screen
  3. select the session you want to edit (there may be only one)
  4. click Edit Session

Do any track work in the route layer not session, that's why your getting red arrows in a saved session.
You can be in edit session and switch to the route layer using the layers tab (pile of books looking thing).

The advice is for saving a route while in surveyor mode. What you are doing is saving a route thats in play. This saves in a different way to surveyor and problems have been reported about saved games not working right. Dont know the solution though sorry.

All route changes must be done in Surveyor, Edit Route except the following. Setting up industries to produce and consume. All session Rules including start up, drivers, Library etc!. Locomotives and rolling stock. These should and in some cases must be done in session.Point switches installed in Session will be corrupted when you save a game and reload it. I also think it is good practice to edit a route using the "edit route" button from the Route screen rather than via the session. For novices anyway.

I had issues with saving. Once I started to open with "Run as an administrator"
for whatever reason, no more issues.
