Run Around Train

The term refers to the practice of uncoupling the loco (or locos) from one end of a train, switching it onto a parallel side track, driving it ("running around") to the other end of the train and switching it back onto the same track then hooking it up to the other end of the train.

The feature is provided in the Driver Command list as a means of automating this somewhat routine and tedious task so that Trainz does it for you. However, there are issues with the placement of turnouts and switches and the length of the track segments between the switch and the next signal or buffer that have to be carefully considered in the design of the layout.

Track marks and switches / turnouts have a default distance of 20m, so if the loco is within 20m it will effectively lock a switch, secret of success is to reduce the distance to 1m or even less. which can be done using the advanced tab for trackside assets and setting each switch likely to get affected. Change the value and click on each junction.

sorry to be a pain what is the simplest way to locate this is done in game place or creating can you be a little bit more pacific don't seem to be able to locate

thanks

Bottom three buttons, left hand button is to get the value which will be displayed in the box where you can change it, next button you click then click on the switch, if it worked the undo button should go live, you can check using the first button, if it doesn't just click in the number box so it's flashing and then click the switch again
Don't need to do that in TANE but TS12 is a little buggy and it doesn't always work first go.

It's not obvious that this works for switches as well as track marks by the way, also works on Whistle signs and other track marks such as ATLS ones.
