Rule - horn sound

Is there a rule for a trigger to sound the horn of a loco as it passes it. And further, is there a rule to enable a trigger to change a point?

Bless you all,

Angela

For triggering points I use the paths and autodrive rules, I find them especially good where diamonds are involved.

The Trapeztafel Signal above now at kuid KUID2: 200726:24003:1 works well mind there are also many visible Whistle Boards available that will achieve this object though the problem here is you can’t switch them off

Thanks all

I should have been more specific.... I run 2004.

And I do have the AutoHornz asset, just wondered if there was a rule for a trigger. So far I have never used a trigger because I haven't a clue how to get them to work. I got the little tutorial and did get some way into setting up a trigger but it was the last part that stumped me, the actual rule.

And Chris, I am not sure what the autodrive rule is??? There must be a way for a trigger to change a point alternately.... I hope! It is for a new Tabletop route. When a train goes out of the main station it takes one route but the next train needs to go along a different one... so it runs in the opposite direction.
I might just give up trying to do it this way....

But bless you all for replying, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how many.

I've not directly used a trigger but Magandy has whistle boards which cause any train passing to whistle, beep or do whatever they do naturally. They are directional (working only for facing traffic) so you need two, one rotated, if you want trains in both directions to sound off.

Search for Whistle in content manager -- kuid2:68236:11025:1 is the one I used but there are others

I use 2009 so am not sure if 2004 uses kuid2's but expect so

I might be wrong, but I'm sure I once used a whistle trigger that could be set up to see only certain trains.

Chris.

Thanks all

Thank you all for your replies, much appreciated.
I do have several whistle boards but tend to use the Autohornz as I think that's invisible.
Just wondered about the trigger.
But the point switching would be handy.

Bless you all,

Horn Sounds

Hello again Angelah!

Re the horn sounds, there are some on the DLS but....a big but, not all of them are directional like the German one mentioned which you have.

Regarding the trigger operation, I've used this for all sorts in TRS2004 for control. Mind, I have used it for the "WaitforTrigger and Path Control Rules.

You can treat the Trigger like its Trackmark brother and simply place it and ID it. Install the "WaitforTrigger" Rule and you will have its selection come up in the Driver Commands in Surveyor.

Does that help???

Thanks

Hi and thanks to Paddington. I shall try it when I get back into Trainz.

At present I am listing my assets onto A4 sheets, I find it easier than searching through the whole lot. I seperate assets into groups such as sheds/huts, shops, commercial, flat & Houses, vegitation, railway assets, bridges etc. So if I want a bridge I just skim through a hard copy list - simple.

Bless you,

Angela

I'll Have to Look into that, But My Only Haggle is, Is it possible to Change the Length of the Whistle/Horn sound so that the Drivers can make a Long Toot? :)

It depends really. If it's a looped sound (the only variable length sound, duh!:hehe:) then sometimes the AI do the equivalent to give it it a nano-second press of they do exactly one whole blast of the loop.
