Route list inconsistent in CM

When starting Trainz T12 from Content Manager why does the routes list sometimes show the last route I opened and at other times it starts from the top of the list. And then sometimes when the route opens, I find my self at the last place I was working that last time it was open and at other times I'm at the center of the first board that was placed.

Martin,

Your guess is as good as mine. I always end up seeing what I worked on before. This will be my famous last words when I open up TS12 soon! :)

Seriously... You might want to try a QDR and see if that helps. That's all I can think of that might fix that inconsistency.

The latter usually happens after a crash or similar, so I would assume that where it starts is held in a file somewhere.

If you exit from surveyor it normally goes to the route you were working on, if you exit from driver, it does not. same with the board, exit from surveyor it remembers your position, exit from driver it does not and goes to the default position.

Since I'm in the middle of creating a new route with new assets being developed as the creation progresses, I made a few notes.
  1. Exiting from Surveyor back to CM and then launching Trainz again without any change, it remembers both the route and the last place I was.
  2. Exiting from Surveyor back to CM and then launching Trainz again after adding a new object in CM, it remembers both the route and the last place I was.
  3. Exiting from Surveyor back to CM and then launching Trainz again after editing the new object, it doesn't remember the route but does remember the last place I was.

Still don't know why sometimes it will also forget the last place and start at the original baseboard.

Hi Martin,

Are you editing in the session editor or the route editor? It looks the same externally, but it has two different entry points.

The other thing too if you do a save, you'll end up with a new Default session which will be different than your other default session. (Confusing, aye!) If you then click on one of the "other" default sessions, you won't see your current edits. There is no way of telling from the list of sessions because there is no time stamp, which would help in this case.

I always do my route editing on the Route layer in the Edit/Create Route mode in Surveyor. When it comes to saving, I do a CTRL+S but do not create a session or save a session.

When I do anything in the Sessions, I go to the Create/Edit Sessions off of the routes in the main menu and there I add trains, commands, etc.

It's a bit more segregated and methodical and it works well for my confused mine. :)

I used to edit the route in the Route editor but since I have a test trains running around to validate that the track and other things are properly placed, I would loose them with the new session that gets created. So I enter via the edit Session. I keep the session locked so it doesn't change and unlock the route layer(s) that need to be modified. By only having one layer unlocked at a time, less chance of placing or disturbing object on other layers.
Then when I save the route, the current session is overwritten, preserving the test trains.
