Robe River Iron - My Customized Version

Hey Everyone

Robe River Iron is an excellent route for running long freight trains and fast passenger trains without worry of derailing.

However, One thing that has irritated me about this route for many years is that there is pretty much nothing at both terminus.

I am upgrading the route to meet my needs. I am adding towns, stations, yards, spur lines, branch lines, facilities, etc.

Here is a schematic I drew of the re-done Southern Terminus, called "Mesa" in the default version. Expect in-game screenshots soon of the changes I made.

I'm no expert on Robe River, but I believe it was a prototypical design. As far as I know the purpose was just to get the ore from mining to processing. It does make an excellent platform for fantasy desert route building though, you've probably struck on a good idea.
I will look forward to see what changes you've made, and how they translate into screenshots.

Alek,

I would be concerned with the old bypass line. You'll need to put trackmarkers on the "mainline" to prevent the AI from taking a short-cut, which they will do.

John

I don't mind if they use it, The old bypass line is still in use. The 4 daily passenger trains use it so they don't have to go through the yard twice. An occasional freight may use it too if there is congestion in the yard. But you are right, I should put trackmarks in.

Thanks!

Now for some screenies! :D First, the Northern Junction of the bypass line and the mainline.

In this pic you can see the Dairy Plant and the old bypass viaduct. Why a Swiss Alps bridge? Well, I liked it and I just pretend the snow is white stone dust. :D
