ROADWAY GOES 'GROUNDHOG'

I notice that in TRS. a lot of roads appear to go underground when they are connected to a level crossing, and I also notice that there is a very noticable drop down, jump up elevation problem in both the two NSW crossings available in the DLS, (that at present I cannot seem to access) where at the leval crossings (equipped with wig wags and boom gates) the traffic appears to drop down and slice through the level crossing insTead of driving over it like in most other level crossings, and then as they have sliced through the tracks, they 'hop up' again as the traffic continues on its way.... A very glaring example of a spline elevation problem, very similar to how the track used to suffer this as it connected to a bridge in earlier versions of TRS... particularly in TRS 2004, but here we have cars and other traffic appear to drop down to 'sllice through' and then hop up again after they have passed through these two NSW level crossings - the double and single track NSW level crossings, that have only just been introduced...
Have you also noticed that several other road surfaces tend to go underground a bit and show the ground texture that you have used above them when you connect them to a leval crossing, that normally look perfectly alright when used elsewhere on your layouts.... try some of the various road textures next time you are making a layout, and watch how the roadway is submerged in ground texture at the level crossings, that doesn't quite look normal now does it when we are connecting a roadway at a level crossing....

Hello Silverymo99, I have to agree with you.

I have noticed this too, that is why I don't use the level crossings at all, I have also noticed cars that float over certain level crossings, like they are flying. There is an ATLS system available, were you can make your own level crossing, but it can be a bit time consuming, especially if you just want to set up a quick crossing and carry on with the route.

I too would like to see ready made level crossing, made for Trainz, were the road does not disappear, or the cars float over the top, I am sure if Railworks can make level crossings that take seconds to set up, I am sure N3V could look into making something silmilar.

A dodge I have used to ensure that the road does not disappear at the LC (which I agree is a common failing):

Lay the desired road to within a short distance of the level crossing. Connect it to the LC using invisible road spline. Lay a short length of unconnected road between the end of the real road and the LC. Adjust heights so that it looks right. This works!

As for floating cars, I can't remember if this solves the problem or not - it probably depends on the invisible road which is used.

This is a great idea Ray, many thanks for sharing that tip, I might have to try that out.

Hope you are well, it's good to see your still about on the forum.
