Road tunnels

What do you do for road tunnels? It seems that there aren't many on DLS. I have been using train tunnels, and laying the roadway just above the track. Doesn't look too bad, but isn't there an easier way?

Thanks

Could you edit the track out of a tunnel and replace the track kuid with one from a road?

I've been thinking about this too.

ps I like your signature picture. I live about 2 hours from there, but never rode on the line. I remember when the MEC ran all the way from Portland to StJ back in the early 1980s before Guilford abandoned that route.

Road Tunnels on DLS

There aren't many but I have found three:

1. Brick_Road_Tunnel by jjslll54, KUID:46819-38186 (for some reason it appears on the rail section of DLS and Surveyor, but roads do attach to it), 2 lane.

2. Highway Tunnel, 4 lane by Maddy25, KUID 2:124017:26009:1, looks good with the 4 lane motorways by RikJ. Has a entrance structure at each end.

3. NZ Road Tunnel, by NZRailfan, KUID: 2:45676:138012:1, another 2 lane road tunnel.

That's a good idea. I should be able to change the track kuid to a road one. Since there are so many more train tunnels than road tunnels, it would be great to be able to use any of them for roads. On the other hand, maybe I just won't have any roads on my route :D I don't like cars. Just trains!
I'll see how it works over the next few days.

I have been to North Conway NH several times, but have never ridden the train! The last time I was there was in 2007. I always stop there on my trips to Mount Washington. I have hiked to the summit 3 times, and ridden the cog once. The cog rr was a great railroad experience!

I was there way back in the 80's before the new station was built. I recall a covered bridge the train went over. I got a photo somewhere of the train coming through the bridge. The weather wasn't good, but I think the photo was decent. I'll have to see if I can dig it out and scan it.

Next time I go up there, I'm going to buy a ticket on the train. I want to ride it on the extended route, which I think they run only on weekends. That would be a great ride to take during the winter too. Would be really great if Amtrak came into N. Conway. Then I wouldn't have to drive there!

I've got the brick road tunnel and the highway tunnel. Just DL the NZ road tunnel, but I haven't had a chance to look at any of these.
Thanks

I tend to make most of my tunnels using AJS dighole and then various trackbeds and wall splines. I find you get more control this way (ie you can easily put in junctions etc) A road would just need some road floor texture. I would look at Andi06's tunnel system and see if anything would be useful there?
