What is the font being used on the RI GP40 It is the one that has stretched out capital R and I with the rest of the lettering small cap would have uploaded an image of the locomotive but I'm having login issues at the moment with Trainz Gallery. you can see that applied to RI locomotives here

PS. I had the wrong kuid number shown earlier.

That kuid doesn't appear to be one of ours, so I'm also curious what it looks like. I can tell you right now that none of the typefaces RI used on any GP40 paint schemes are 1:1 matches for existing fonts out there.

Your right about that very hard to find certain RI fonts.

railroads often had in-house design departments that handled their branding. there are ~similar~ fonts for most old railroad typefaces but more often than not the lettering is something unique to that RR. the most obvious case that comes to mind is Santa Fe's large billboard lettering- untrained eyes will say it's just Cooper Black but as soon as you start to look at the details it's not even close.
