Reviews For Simulator 12

Is there any reviews for Simulator 12 that will give me meaning to purchase it other than to say i have it .

What are the benefits of the purchase apart from Multiplayer more sound and routes i will never use and have never in past version either, however i will look at them.

So can someone let us all know what the wow factor would be to push me and others to buy it please.

I am amazed that there isn't a far more detailed review out there from someone , you see this tells me that something isn't right in Uppercomebuckerwest which is 3 miles from Wheelabarrowback where
Mrs.Maginamacky lives.

So maybe ill have to buy it and do a review to set thing straight!

Well I don't think there's a compelling reason to buy unless you are fond of one of the new features; the sound (Doppler), the routes and various new pieces of content, or the zoom "out to satellite" view, or Multiplayer. The screens I've seen look nice, but not Earth shatteringly nice.

I just watched the video attached to my 'marketing' newsletter and I think the guys at N3V missed a great chance to demonstrate the new sound engine. I was looking forward to hearing how the doppler effect working as it's been something many have been waiting to hear, but instead I was treated to some tune written by Crowded House on ketamine.

I think we are telling interesting test-based things at the brand new TS 12 Forum. Please pay us a visit, you are most welcomed

Some of the insights reported there, despite the short time given to test it, are deep enough to check what's fine and what's not so fine in TS 12.

Of course, as always, a little bit of subjectivity underlies on all our reports, as it would be expected on these occasions. :hehe: Complete unbiasedness is not a characteristic for true trainzers (even not desired since a little bit of sectarianism is healthy at this trainzy community. After all, it isn't community dealing with stamp collecting, clay modelling, UFO watching, bee spotting, wool knitting or chess playing -all of them very decent and cultural activities indeed-).

Well i just downloaded Simulator 12 so after i install it i will be back with a full review on it , well in the morning anyway.
I figure if you people all send me a dollar each then it really hasen't cost that much has it no.

As you need a high quality video card ... and most laptops under $1300 do not have a high quality video card, and swappimg out video cards in a laptop is really unreasonable ... so lap top Trainz is pretty much out of the question ... unless you buy a $2000 + laptop, or tear apart your laptop and replace parts.

But other video games play great on just about all mediocre laptops ... why is Trainz so different ?

I have a reasonably fair desktop with a pretty fast AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 5600+, 1Tb Hard Drive, with a 1Gb video card (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6759736&sku=G458-0430), and I wonder if Trainz will run well on it ... or if I must tear apart my PC, replace the power supply, buy a 1.21 Gigawattz video card ... just to run Trainz across trackage ? ? ?

I think that Trainz should be made to run on ALL 512Gb-1Gb video cards, and not just the specific video cards that are brought up here in the forums ... GTX BlahBlah ... etc ...

It would have been great if TS12 was made so that allmost all laptops and desktops would play it with good framerates, but from what I hear ... you still need a super computer to play this "Video Game" simulator.

It just doesn't make sence.

How many people bought 09/10/12 and can not play it on ther PC ... that is the question that should be addressed.

I was pretty much limited to a video card that had a 300 Watt spec ... unless I was to tear apart my PC and start replacing parts ... rediculous ! To play with Trainz ? ? ?

Lets face it games most games now require a good computer thus suggested in another thead laptops are really most of the time made to acess the web quick were you can't get to a desktop. As desktop are more for gaming. I still suggest if you can afford it and want to play games build a custom computer. I learned that for gaming computer you need to build it yourself to be happy with it.

Well the lowest model the 500 one the graphics card R HD intel graphics card internal is ok I been able to get fairly good smooth game and fraps around 40 or 50 with a computer of speed close to your with 4 gigs of ram it should be ok I used to use the graphics card and with 3000 distance everything else on high its ok check out my videos of me using it.

No doubt that will work if you want to pay that much for a laptop sure go ahead for it. Like I said any computer thats 1000 dollars is going to be a very good gaming computer

For the record, that generalization about desktops only applies to OEM/prebuilts, and even then, you can still install a cheap card yourself on a $300 bigbox special and get a real boost. That said, you can build a PC from the ground up for as little as about $200 ($300 with a fresh copy of Windows 7) that will match or beat most laptops without dedicated graphics. Which really just affirms your point that price is not a good predictor of quality or performance.
