Return to Westhaven... (fairly big pics)

Don't knock trainz.hu - it's a great site, full of really excellent stuff, and not hard to navigate for non-Hungarian speakers.

Really ???, When I get there I only see a menu entry for a shop, no download section, nothing. I must be blind....

Btw, I first went for your 1.1 version to see if my pc can handle the dense buildup of your route correctly. It's coming in slowly but steadily via the CMP now

Greetings from sunny Amsterdam,

Unfortunately you have to register before you can see the extensive free download section. Compulsory registration is the only reason I try not to include their stuff in my routes...

Well, I almost expected that, but since nobody mentioned registering here and the fact of the buttons at the bottom of their page to get firefox, made me think me not seeing a link maybe could be an IE7 problem. :)

I must say nice shots in this thread so far, and hey, for someone who lives in a city with trams all the time rolling along his front door, a tram route is defenitly a must.:hehe:

Greetings from nighttime Amsterdam,

I could really do with another tester for TC 1/2. I've had some serious issues reported, and I could do with it checking on a second machine to confirm the problems aren't a single installation thing...

I hope to have a third beta out fairly soon. I'd appreciate some more feedback from the testers - or are you all bored of it already?

Pressing on with development of Westhaven Branch now (the next phase)...

Some alternate transport:

The route features a large reservoir, with regular ferry service, and at least one yacht sailing up and down...

...it also features a loop of aerial track for helicopters...

Observation - patience - practice...

You should have seen my first efforts, they really were nothing special. In fact most of this route has been revised at least once - I've just re-textured most of the Westhaven Branch section, and replaced just about all of the bridges. It's just a matter of try something - look at it long and hard - try to work out what's not quite right about it - and then do it again until it's right. Personally I look at other's work and think they've captured something I've just missed somehow...

Paul

p.s. three things many fledgeling route builders get wrong (just as a friendly pointer):

-monotonous textures - use several in small patches, and then copy/paste them in large selections
-foliage - use lots, both trees and bushes (make bushes by lowering trees). Look aout of the window - wherever you are you an usually see more than you can count.
-Fences - UK lines are always fenced. Fences, walls and hedgerows are a major feature of the countryside - don't leave them out...

Thanks for the tip, i only just started building detailed routes about 1/2 a year ago, even though i've had trainz since I was 7 (UTC)

Just a heads-up: Westhaven Coastal is now on the DLS, with 2 sessions. The 7:00 session depends on a large amount of rolling stock. The Basic Settings session contains all of the relevant route, AJS station and ATLS data, and so should be used for setting up your own sessions.
