Restoring Trainz after Windows crash

Ancient Trainzer
I have had the misfortune to have a complete windows 10 crash which meant a system repair which deletes all apps. I have disk image backups but unfortunately the last one is two months old. Before I do this I have to rescue my data so that I have the recent additions.

To rescue TANE and TS12 is it only necessary to copy the User folders to an external HDD and once I've restored the drive, replace the old User folder with the recent one and rebuild the database, or do I need to copy anything else?

Although an old hand, I have been fortunate, and this has been my first crash where I have needed a backup, hence my ignorance.

Thanks in advance for any help.

That will do it, John.

When grabbing the T:ANE data, make sure you look in the old C:\Users\%{your login name}%\App Data\Local\N3V Games\ and grab anything in there. This is the default location for your data if you put it there.

Since you are reinstalling, you might consider putting your data in another location, if you don't already. I put mine on another hard drive in a folder all by its self. My T:ANE data exists in F:\TANE_Data. How simple is that! :)

I then pointed to that location when setting things up in T:ANE.

TS12 will be everything, the program included since the user-data is in a folder within the program files (x86) file structure in a folder called Userdata. Again I put TS12 at the route level so I don't have to dig through the C:\Program Files (x86) to find what I'm looking for when I'm editing anything.

Thanks John. I have both on a separate SSD (Drive D) as I try to avoid the system disk for programs, if I can, in case of problems, but in this case the disaster was too great. To my horror I discovered the TS12 folder was 143GB with 1,250,00 odd files and TANE 63GB which is going to take some time as the external HDD is USB2.
