reskining in trs 2004

hi can anyone plz tell me what file i need to open to reskin the engines in trs04 plz as i cant find them?? and what program do i need to open and reskin the engine?? i have trainz paint shead but it only has a few desiel engines in it and a few wagons and only basic coulers can some one help me plz i just need to know where the enigine files are wich one to open and what program i need to reskin it thanks all from Darren

Euphod is right, Gimp is a good free editor but any paint program which supports layers will do. Some others are: Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, most "free" photo editors provided with digital cameras and scanners.

A few key items:
- Reskin a "clone" not the original and change the KUID to yours in the config.txt and ensure the original creator is still mentioned.
- Ensure you have the original creators permission to reskin the item
- Make sure you have a clean backup of the original file
- Do not change the size of the file you are modifying
- When saving your changes ensure that the file is saved as "uncompressed"
- Take full advantage of the Layers for weathering and colour change effects
- Search the forums for tips on skinning - the topic has been extremely well covered in the past.

Don't overlook paint.net another free one.

Basically clone the item ie copy the folder change the kuid to your own then edit the .tga file after noting the size. If it changes in size then you probably need to delete the alpha channel or take off any RLE compression.

Realistically buy TRS2009 and reskin in that, much easier you can create for TRS2004 in TRS2009.
