Send in a ticket to the helpdesk. Zec will get on it right away.

Unfortunately, it's Sunday there now so no one is in the office but these will be taken care of on Monday.

John

Can we also report stuff that no one would ever download? This comes close to an empty map.

minecraftian, by zhenia. Description: this is almost redy please don't play until
I downloaded it to see how bad it was, and it was just 2 baseboards, some builtin track, and a ballast texture that doesn't match the track. Also some bad builtin rollingstock.

I really wish people wouldn't put their bad noob routes on the DLS.

This I wouldn't report. It's probably some young kid uploading something, and he's very proud of it just like my nephew, who just turned 4, is proud of his scribbles he place son the fridge door. Keep in mind too the mobile versions use the DLS to store routes.

John

I didn't think that the mobile users used the DLS too to store routes.

Afraid they do as they haven't got any other means of backing anything up, thread on here about it somewhere where the gadget user had put not to download as it was a backup in the description.

Could well be that users of gadgets / toy computers and not a real version of Trainz are not aware that anyone else can see what they are uploading?

I meant this thread to be a place for all to post "notes" of offenders, and assets, names, and kuids, as a WOS (WallOfShame).

A thread where others, and N3V, can clearly read about, and view the assets kuids that are blatantly mass uploaded to the DLS as "SPAM".

So they can take note of them, and act on removal of these "SPAM" assets, so others can avoid downloading them them ... such as 786 "Reserved" assets that contain absolutely nothing.

Need to be very careful when naming and shaming as people got it very wrong not so long ago..........

The correct thing to do is report any incidents to the helpdesk.

Problem is, helpdesk is doing nothing about cleaning it up.

Spam assets.

drakon4ikus212: 284 items called fenfe4
drakonchikus212: 576 items called fenfe4
stepanenko: 84 items called Krash_Test V2
drakonchikus212: 1274 items called fenfe4

Which may be true ... as N3V has most important things to do with improving T:ANE.

The problem is that no one is manning the Help Desk, and the DLS has an automated uploader that lets any "SMAM' in, as long as it contains no errors.

There should be a human being controlling the DLS uploader ... someone who tests each asset that is submitted, before posting it on the DLS.

So this thread is a good place to stockpile information about suspected "Spam" items.

So that such information can be compiled, and submitted to the Helpdesk, at a later time.

Not necessarily true; just slow at it.

I put in a ticket and Zec responded back immediately on the fene4 things. I recommend we all do that for the other stuff.

John

That last lot of fenfe4 files (1274) were uploaded in March, slow is one thing, but taking 4 months and still nothing is another. With respect, Zec can respond as soon as he likes, but until there is some actual action and a result, responding time means very little.

The point is they are aware of the situation and I was told he will have a teammate look at the latest Fenfe4 batch. At this point in time, it's in their hands not ours so there's no point if fretting over it. It may also be N3V did speak to this asset creator, and the guy didn't get the point so more drastic measures are needed.

In the corporate world it's called handing off the job to someone else. In the olden days, I'd get myself in a snit over stuff not being done. Now that I've been forced to retire due to health issues, stuff like this doesn't dig at me anymore. There's more important stuff to worry about like a leaky roof I have to deal with among other stuff like my mum in hospital right now. :)

In my world, we call it "passing the buck", its giving the job to someone else when you don't want to handle it or take any responsibility for it.

As for your personal battles, I can relate to that, we have a leaky roof and need to get the whole roof replaced this summer, and my 83 yr old Mum has just come out of hospital after having a heart valve replacement, not nice for anyone I would imagine. They say 2 years for full recovery, I would think its something you never fully recover from, especially at 83!!.

Whatever your Mum is in for, I sincerely wish her all the best.

She's went in to fix a botched hip and ended up with pneumonia... The roof is only a small part, but it took 2 years to get a bloody contractor. They want big jobs and kept ignoring our calls. They must be slow or something because we finally got a call.

Anyway, we too call it passing the buck, but then again we have no control over this stuff. Let the N3V guys pass it around their office. :)
