Repair of Andi Smith's Pullman cars

The CRG is pleased to announce that a batch of Andi Smith's Pullman cars have finally been repaired and are available for download at the DLS. These are:

<kuid2:122285:554:6> Pullman 1951 Bar
<kuid2:122285:555:6> Pullman 1951 Parlour First
<kuid2:122285:556:6> Pullman K Parlour Third
<kuid2:122285:558:6> Pullman K Brake Third
<kuid2:122285:557:6> Pullman K Kitchen First
<kuid2:122285:559:6> Pullman K Parlour First

More will follow.

We don't normally announce repairs but these are significant since the repairs do not use Superscript and rely on DunDun92's WagonX script library. These repairs have taken a long time and very nearly got shelved as unsuitable for repair. It's only through the magic of WagonX that we were able to fix them. My sincere thanks to Dundun92 for making this possible.

As far as possible, we have tried to reproduce what Andi originally intended but it will look a little different in the View Details dialog. Note that these were originally TRS2004 assets but I think they look quite good in TR22.

The repairs are to Trainz Build 5.0 so that includes TRS19 SP5 and TRS22.

Downloaded and running fine. Thanks a million for doing this. We all miss Andi and use his great productions everyday. Again THANKS.

I don't know if this is deliberate but for some reason the cars are listed as locomoves rather than rolling stock.

Remake very much appreciated. There seem to be three differences from Andy's originals:

1. There is no backboard to hide the end corridor doors when uncoupled.
2. The lights above the doors are not working (for me anyway) when loading at stations, although they do appear in the 'asset preview' from content manager.
3. The coaches take a long time to load passengers (80 seconds for me) regardless of the station load time setting.

Are other isers finding the same?

The courtesy lights work for me.
I noticed that the current build in the current family takes a long time to load all kinds of passenger coaches including trams compared to the older versions.

Thanks to everyone involved for the effort put into these carriages, it's great to see them being revived with the new script.

A couple of minor issues I spotted:
- The livery option is called "GWR Livery", I assume this is a copy and paste error...
- There should be a none option for the service destination boards
- The new gangway connections don't look quite right to me. They should (unsurprisingly) be Pullman gangways, but they look more like British standard gangways. To be fair, Andi's original gangways were a slightly odd hybrid, but had the distinctive shape of a Pullman buffing plate.

They are listed in CM as a "train" like locos and other cars/carriages. Where are you seeing them as locos?

I'll look into the corridor backboard. Andi's original mesh was a bit vague.
As for the lights, make you have the latest WagonX library downloaded as I don't think the lights worked for earlier versions.
The load times are rather long but probably more realistic. I can try and reduce them but this was never a commuter train.

More a silly mistake on my part.

Ok. This might be tricky to fix but I will find a way.

I'll look into that.

Here is what I am talking about

Thank you Paul and John for your replies.

I do have Wagonx build 5.0, yet the door lights do not work for me during loading. They did and still do in my 2.9 versions of the Pullmans in all TRS builds including Plus. Those previous versions had variable load times matching the station 'load' settings. I take the point about Pullman trains not being 'stoppers', yet this new fixed load time means rescheduling many complex sessions.

Once again, you efforts are much appreciated. The night lighting of the carriages is vastly improved.

The WagonX version should be 2.0 and the relevant KUID is <kuid2:661805:500008:2>. The door lights are working for me in both TRS22 and 19. My CRG tester reported them working as well.
I haven't investigated the load times as yet. The "GWR Livery" has been corrected and also the option for no destination board.

For EDH6 - I'll contact you via Discord.

Thank you! The hard work shows as, the bogie swap is great! If anyone needs the plans for the K type pullman third kitchen, I have the set of the Antony Ford pullman books! Seriously though, thanks again. They look fantastic.

WagonX version 2.0, KUID <kuid2:661805:500008:2>, is what I have. No luck as yet with the door lights.

No matter. Just one of those thigs, as the song says.

The exterior door lights are triggered by loading events and, given the recent discussion on stations, I wonder if the station itself is part of this problem. Can you advise the kuid of a station where the lights don't work for you? My test route has a number of stations but I think they are all the same station (Charlbury).

Yes, the lights do work with Charbury station and with Settle and Carlisle stations. They do not work with Andy's (AJS) stations, although his originals still do in all builds. I have yet to test them in other stations.

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the response and it gives me something to follow up. We have some of the AJS stations on our list but not investigated as yet.

The reason courtesy lights don't work at AJS stations is because Andi used an animation event to toggle the lights on and off. WagonX doesn't handle animation events and the repair used a load event. An animation event is a trigger placed in an EVT file that is handled by a script to do something such as sound, smoke, etc.

I don't know why AJS stations don't issue a load event but the AJS station library code does bypass much of the generic passenger station code. I will follow that up at some point but it would probably mean changing the AJS Station Library asset. The library is already on the CRG's faulty list for obsolete functions.

Perhaps there is an alternative fix and I will continue to look for options. This is unlikely to be fixed in the next update for these repairs that addresses the other concerns raised in this thread.

My apologies for losing this feature for these repairs but the alternative is not repairing them at all.

Thank you Paul for your efforts. I will continue to use the old pullmans for the time being. These lack only the sbility to swap bogies, which is not a problem for me. AJS stations still work with all existing carriage assets in TRS Plus and I have had no problems with loading.

Kind regards,

ingha
