Repainting Question

I'm just a beginner repainter - How do you veteran repainters out there paint things with stripes, totally different colors and schemes?

An example of what I do: Broken image... But basically an F40PH with uneven lines and an ugly logo

Basically, I just drew up uneven lines

Every time I try something like lines or different color schemes, they end up looking bad

So any tips out there for a beginner like me???

Short answer is practice, practice, practice. If someone sold an app that transformed the buyer into an instant graphic artist it would sell like hotcakes whatever it cost, but unfortunately the only way to learn art is to keep doing it over and over. The image editor you use makes a difference, some have more versatile tools than others.

If there was supposed to be a picture there, I'm not seeing it.
