removing content from a layout

There are several ways that you could do this, but I don't think they are worth the effort.

Quickest way is probably to either find an untextured area or create one by adding a new board.

Copy an area of the new board, make the area copied large but not too large.

With all 'Paste' options selected except height paste the blank area all over the route. That should get rid of the lot. Probably.

Oh - and save often, making huge changes like that will run you out of memory fast...

First, read the 242 page manual - wait - that is for TS12. See section 11.9.3 of the 165 page TRS2006 Manual. If you can't figure it out from that, ask specific questions here.

You can disable the content you don't like, load the map and then save it with all the missing dependencies, you can do as Dermmy has suggested, you can merge the map with itself and then remove the content you don't like, but as I said, I don't think these methods are worth the effort. They take loads of time and loads of memory, and there is no quick, easy intuitive way to do it.I gather you're looking for a method written into the system that works "automagically" but there is none.

Sorry, I've been watching too much TV with my kids....:hehe:

What'sthe point? If you removed all the content, there wouldn't be a layout, or am I missing something?

I can see the point if I like the landforms but don't like whats been done with the content and ground textures.

Whether it's worth the effort or not depends on how much you like the land form and how much effort you are willing to put into deleting 'the rest'.

A couple of hints to the OP - if the route is your own and the land form was 'hand made' in Surveyor recovering the blank route is probably worth a fair bit of effort because hand-made terrain is damned hard to get right and doing it again will never be the same.

If however the route is some-one else's it is worth finding out if it is DEM-based scenery 'cause if it is there is a very fair chance the route-builder has archived a 'blank' version of the route and he/she might let you have it for the asking...
