Remove backups safely within local data?

Hello everybody,

I have bought new hardware for a new computer configuration with windows 11. Within my windows10 pc I had a SSD with my local data folders for Tane sp4 build 105766 and Trs19 platinum build 117009.

I started the configuration of the Windows 11 and the final step was to remove the SSD with local data from the windows 10 and put it in the windows 11 configuration. All the settings were checked, I did a test and all was okidoki.

However, the day after, the SSD with local data folders was no longer in NTFS but in raw format. Luckily, I had made some backups and I could restore the local data. Did the test and again all was ok.

Now, I checked the size of the local data folder and it is 297Gb ( 😲).

How, can I safely remove some backups from the local data folder without having any issues with the Tranz tane sp 4 build 105766 and Trs 19 platinum build 117009 configurations?

Kind regards

Kurt

Just open the data folder and the backup folder. Delete anything you don't want. The backups will normally only keep the required number you set up. In the Trains settings, you select how many backups you want to keep each day. Don't delete anything inside those dated folders.

I have never had a need for a backup (hopefully). But, do the backup files contain both the system and the customer data in each file?

Hello Keith,

Thank you for your reply. Within the trainz settings, I will reduce the number of daily to make backups. Is it safe to delete old dated folders?

For example - today we are Dec,15th 2024. Can I delete the dated folders of the month of November, October, etc ...?

Kind regards

Kurt

Hello boleyd,

I was happy to have a backup of the local data folders and a backup of my route and sessions cdps. Now, I don't know if the backup files contain the system and the customer data in each file.

Kind regards

Kurt

The backup folders are small and won't reduce disk space that much. It is the original folder that takes up most of the space followed by the local folder.
Right-click on each folder and select properties to see the size of each folder in the backup folder.
