ReInstallint TS2009-Can't Join The Planet?

I reinstalled TS2009 ok. Started up at the Options page. I entered the serial number, name and password and clicked Join Planet Auran so I could get auto-updates. This opens a browser window and says at the bottom it is connection to TS2009.com. However, after many minutes waiting and multiple tries it never connects. I can connect to TS2009.com myself ok. Stuck??

Rather than wait to solve that issue I plodded on. Finding SP1 in the forums I downloaded and installed without incident. Running the program I was told the database was a mess so I did a quick database fix process. Started TrainZ 2009 now at V-38017 and it said a patch was available. Great, that was working. So I said ok and halfway through it said that it had a problem:

Checking for available disk space for patching.
Searching for patches...
Downloading patch file...
Unpacking patch file...
Failed to extract the patch archive.
Patching aborted.

That one seems to have no obvious fix.

Wrong, another find. Got a manual patch to get me to 38285. Can't find a way to get to latest 38599 but guess I am lucky so far.

Since you have previously registered your serial number with Planet Auran, you no longer have to re-do it. All you do is simply start 09, click on options, and enter your username and password, close the options window and start cm2 and you should then be able to see the DLS.

If you are uncertain that you have registered the serial number, click on UserCP above and then on serial number to see what is registered with planet auran.

Likewise, if you purchase a different version of trainz, use the UserCP above to register the new serial number. You do not have to join Planet Auran again since you already have a username, password and KUID assigned to you.

Hope this clears this part up for you.

As for the Update, do a search in the 09 forum and you will find a reference to manually updating to 38599.

Ah, unfortunately evertyhing is how to get to 38285. I am guessing yhat subsequent updates are not very important but I continue to wonder if SP2 wiil tell me it can't run if I only have 38285.
